Rare horrors

Featured Replies

Saw something on the road this morning I'd not seen for ages.

A rare car which is startlingly ugly.

Can't imagine why the didn't sell.

Anyone one else seen any rare manky motors?

No they did sell them here for a short while.

Yeah

I suspect it was one of the domestic 'narrow' (1.7M.?) vehicles which were exported for a period.

Nope, they had the same footprint as a normal vitara swb, just without the back seat or any storage space.

Think they were mostly, if not all, rear wheel drive as well, so not great off road.

Some did & still do very well at 4x4 Events / TYRO's etc.

Some nicely modified ones still around and enthusiasts that cherish them.

When not permanent AWD most of the earlier Suzuki's designed to be used on and offroad were rear wheel drive and then you selected front wheel drive to give AWD. Just like early Land Rovers were sometimes.

Are you thinking of Kei cars?

Anyway, is that Suzuki coming or going? It's hard to tell. I keep seeing a Rover Streetwise during my daily commute in Northampton. A fabulous machine. Hang on... I don't mean fabulous, do I?

Not many rovers around now other than the 75. They seemed to put that together well.

Yeah, they have unique domestic registration laws for their narrow streets it seems .....motorbike engines ......massively expensive MOTs for older cars, forcing scrappage and exports as 'grey' cars.

X90 barely sold in Japan. Less than 1400 in 3 years. 7000 bought in the US.

The narrow Jap car is shown by the imported Lucida or Estima which are 4 inches narrower than the Previa the UK got because they were in a different tax band as JDM vehicles.

More horror,

Was behind one of these the other day in traditional Vauxhall pink

I know that really was a Daihatsu Kei car

A Suzuki Wagon R actually. Whenever I see a car like that it makes me think of playing Grant Turismo on the PS2 for some reason...

I had a red wagon R courtesy car for days. Felt like Postman Pat the whole time.

Ah my mistake, brain addled by the horror.

A mate of mine had a Suzuki Cappuccino, he absolutely loved it. One of his favourite cars ever and he's was a connoisseur of some fairly series japanese speed in those days (monstrous imported Celica GT4s and Supras ).
