heated windscreen issue

Featured Replies

Have developed a problem with the heated windscreen - there is a 3cm wide vertical strip that no longer seems to be working. annoying as it is directly in sightline. it clears eventually but takes much longer than the rest of the window

car is 15 months old now - is this a warranty fix?

thanks for any advice

For the price of a gallon or so of fuel it's got to be worth dropping it in to the dealer's to check, particularly if it's in warranty as it is probably failing/beginning to fail and if you've noticed the difference in its operation. Either they can run diagnostics or might have to be left overnight to actually see for themselves if your photo isn't acceptable proof. Sod's Law says it will fail completely 3 weeks after warranty expiry. Mine clears uniformly along I'd imagine with all the others.

You should be able to have the windscreen replaced Under warrenty for this as long as there are no signs of chips if dents to the glass around where the elements are not working.

Its Worth a punt at least, if they really say no, you could try your replacement glass insurance but you will pay the excess (although cheaper than a whole new screen).

There was an issue with some of the early ones but this caused half of the screen not to work (as there are two connectors for the elements).
