Worn inside edge of both front tyres on vrs CR tdi hatch

He says he is going for 4 wheel alignment, but I suspect his worry is that it might come back, only not worse than before, after having paid a decent sum.

Glad his mind is made up though now, one way or the other.

If you think this thread has gone on a bit have a look at fuel sloshing and low mpg threads.

Hi again,  been quoted 70 pound from tyre spot at team valley Gateshead, tilt, i too have reservations about them trying to diddle me!!! Don't they give you a print out with green coloured bits if it doesn't need adjustment and then yellow/ amber is if it's out? Do yourself know how long four wheel alignment takes?

Look up S cars in Spennymoor Durham or Automotive solutions in Peterlee, both of which have hunters.

I've used S cars twice on my last and current Octavia and can recommend them, I think they charged around £50-£60 on both occasions, I have not used Automotive solutions in Peterlee for alignment but they will be doing my re-map in the very near future and have a good reputation.

High m8 this is great, is that price from s cars for check and adjustment? And also did your cars require much adjustment? Just afraid i will be ripped off from tyre spot, I've read reviews on them and it's not good to say the least. Only other place i know of local to Chester le street is Revolution Motorsport and they have quoted 35 for initial check and then so much per adjustment after that so anywhere from 35 to 100 pound, if you vouch for a s cars i will look to get it booked in there. Thanks again for the suggestion

To be honest I have no idea how the charge was broken down, on both occasions my car was booked in for other work at S cars other garage at Coxhoe, my first Octavia was in for MOT and a pair of tyres and I asked them to do the tracking, Coxhoe dropped the car over to Spennymoor as part of the job, on this occasion it was check and adjust front and back as they were both out (they provided the before and after details) the difference from before and after was amazing.

The second time was just last month when S Cars Coxhoe fitted new bilstein dampers and Eibach springs all round and 4 new tyres, they then sent the car over to Spennymoor again for alignment, the print out this time showed that the front and back were ok and within tolerances before adjustment but they adjusted them to get as near to perfect as they could.

Reading this with interest but not understanding half of it.  :D     My front tyres on my Octavia Mk II  TDi have worn on the inside. It is 9 years old and has done around 88,000 miles.  We have been running the tyres at the right pressure according to what we have read above.  I obviously, therefore, need a four-wheel alignment.  Daft question, as I have never had to do one of these before where should I get it done?  Should I go to my local garage, to my local tyre place or would somewhere like Kwik-Fit or Halfords do it?

Scrub that - just found somewhere locally who do it, who I have used before and trust.
