Central locking has mind of its own

I've always had issues with imperfect window operation (sometimes up when wanting down and vice versa AND I think L/H switch operating right window)and occasional hatch not opening from microswitch. Surprisingly though, been ok to live with. Although odd behavior from windows they have always worked enough not to cause a problem.

Months ago my car started to lock itself, lets say 30 seconds after stopping. I became wary of leaving key in ignition. Again, lived with it ok.

Lately though, the car will lock of it's own accord while driving and the above self locking seems more erratic. Today I think I saw my indicators flash when car was parked and locked.

Obviously looks like an issue with the convenience/comfort module (am I right?) Really not sure I want to encounter re-programming expense for a replacement let alone purchase of a replacement. Is there any options, ie disconnecting the module or will I lose my electric windows too?

Does a new or replacement unit definitely need re-programming? Thanks

Bump! Anyone?

It could be corroded connectors in the driver's door loom. There's no way of checking that without taking the door card off and examining them.

My last two fabias did this.I just make sure the keys in my pocket

You can remove the central locking fuse. Then, you will have to lock/unlock all four doors by hand and the trunk will aways be unlocked, though. The replacement ccm will need programming with vcds or at a vag authorised dealer unless it is from a car with the exact same setup of yours.

Thanks for replies guys

will any actions re-set anything? For example is it worth disconnecting/reconnection of the battery?

I doubt disconnecting the battery will have any effect. Either it is due a ccm fault (as it was mine) or a corroded connector/microswitch. It is up to you if you can live with that. I whould give it a chance and check the connections inside the driver's door, including the power windows pcb for corrosion at the locking condact.
