Wiring

Featured Replies

Mk1 vrs. Red wire with white tracer at position No9 on top of battery fuse box. Do any of you knowledgeable people know what this wire is for? It has chafed through completely. The owners manual states "not stated" thanks.

Which year was your vRS built?

#9 is shown in the dealer diagrams as "Not Assigned" ??

If it's a 10A fuse it's ABS related. As per this table from here:

@Wino has come up with similar info to what I've just found only with slightly different dates

<May 04 Not Assigned

May 04 > Oct 05 ABS/TCS/ESP

Oct 05 > Aircon

If it's aircon (relay coil in fan control unit) it'll be red/lilac I think.

Depending on build date of the OP's car, your info may help to improve mine, Nige. :)

Edit: @nige8021 Your date info looks right to me, I think mine was based on the dates of the wiring pdfs as a whole, rather than delving within. Good work.

Fuse # 9 with Red with White tracer is the ABS

Fuse #9 with Red with Lilac tracer is Aircon

Great stuff thanks for the replies. It's an '05' fabia vrs and I do have an abs light illuminated. I'll repair the wire tomorrow and let you all know the result.  Again thanks.

The Red/White wire goes to pin 7 of the 38 pin connector on the ABS pump unit

This morning I stripped out the battery to gain access to the wire. Soldered the wire back together. ABS light is now OUT on the dash, speedo is working again as is the fuel gauge. Thanks for the advice. Anyone else having the same problem look at the red wire with white tracer on the battery fuse panel that rubs on the top rad hose clip. Thanks.
