What is the blue light bulb?

Doesn't seem to work on my car

Looks like the previous owner has fitted blue/white main beam bulbs.

If doesn't work, it's blown. Does the other side work?

If it's a Fabby VRS with the Black 'shuttered' headlights it's a dummy Side Light! It's not a bulb, it doesn't do anything, other than fill a hole!

Yeah ill echo what Simoneale1973 said

Dummy bulbs in mk2 Fabia VRS, as your sidelight is your DRL

Can you put a working light bulb in?

No. There is no need for it to work.

Is this not just the side light bulb - looks as though the blue tinted ones have been fitted (usually free with blue tinted headlight bulbs)

When driving DRL's would be illuminated but when engine is off and light switch is in the "sidelight" position the the front sidelight bulbs should illuminate . These are effectively parking lights.

Usually sidelights front and rear should illuminate on one side if the indicator stalk is either in the left or right position. Legal for night parking in some countires but not GB

Nope. The DRL dims when on sidelight mode, and then stay the same when dip beam is on.

When the the ignition is on, the DRL stay in bright mode.

These have been replaced with some bright white looking sidelights for no real reason basically.

As regards to parking lights, I'm not even sure they operate for that either.

Hmm - just checked on my Superb any you are indeed correct. The parking lights are just a very dimmed version of my main beam light (or just one side if using indicator stalk). Don't know how this is done, but at full brightness those bulbs consume over 4.5 amps each

As to UK Parking lights, the indicator down with the ignition off in a Mk2 vRS Fabia is the 'parking lights' activated and are legal on the UK where there is no street lighting.

(read the UK Highway code if in doubt on 'Parking light' which are not the same as 'Sidelights' when a vehicles is stationery and unoccupied where there is no streetlighting.)

Fabia Mk2 vRS 'Parking Lights' show as

One front 'Sidelight / position light' on at the front / rear / and 1 rear number plate light on.

The Sidelight units are the DRL units but on less bright as they are when one is on as a 'Parking light' ie not as bright as they are when on as a DRL.

I might venture to add... Do emergency services use this model of car? Might be where they install their flashing blues!

EDIT,

Doh missed that link OzFabia.

Police in London do use Fabia vRS, but the little dummy sidelight bulb position would not be used for their Blue Lights.

The stupid DRL's (also Sidelight units) are on.

(The ones that even police officers have been known to stop vRS owners for having on as Foglights,)

& a there is a flashing light in the headlights.
