1.4 TDI Meyle HD Console Bushes - Too Hard

Featured Replies

2 weeks ago I replaced the front rubber Console Bushes with Meyle P/N 100 610 0027/HD which according to Meyle are their new uprated bushes for the 1.4 TDI 80 BHP model.

They are far too hard, the vibration from 1000 - 2200 rpm is not acceptable, it will shake everything to pieces - OK I increase the revs to avoid the vibration but they have to be replaced - Don't suggest Poly Bushes, I went down that route 5 years ago, they also were far too hard.

The Meyle bushes I fitted on my wife's car a few years ago are exactly like the pic in this LINK with the Two Large Dimples and Two Extra Side Slits as can be seen, but although they are showing this image, I have checked with the seller and they are NOT this type, but exactly the same as the Meyle HD with only Two Large Dimples.

Has anyone else any ideas as to which to buy, I may have to resort to buying the Skoda opriginal type, but how long they would last is anybody's guess.

I've changed to the OEM new design 1K0407183E, item 2A on this page with no regrets, nor concerns about longevity. Only about a tenner each I think.

If it has any relevance, I seem to remember way back when the first design changes were made to these bushes, maybe back in 2004/5, people were handing out warnings about fitting any alternative bushes to TDIs due to the real possibility of then having NVH issues, I got a local VAG indie to fit Cupra (solid) bushes to my wife's late 2002 Polo 1.4 BBY petrol engine car - and there were no issues concerning NVH after they were fitted.

I think the main problem is that it's a diesel with very low torque and it's in the low torque range that the problem occurs.

I have the Meyle HD ones fitted to mine - the ones with just two holes. Have no issues with harshness but it's a petrol. I previously had PSB ones and found them excessively harsh.

The TDI's have problems with bushes causing NVH.....same as the lower engine mount (dogbone) bush..TDI's have problems with NVH with too high a shore hardness...

NVH ? Meaning ?

I agree that the bushes are far too hard for the 1.4 TDI, but what do you recommend then, what are the latest Skoda bushes like.

Noise, Vibration, Harshness...standard mechanical anachronism...

I'd get the NON HD versions or the OEM Skoda versions...

Well I finally got to the bottom of the massive vibration.

I wrote to Meyle UK and they offered to send me a pair of new Bushes (FOC), their part number 100 610 0043. On fitting these the vibration completely vanished.

They hinted that they may have mis-represented that their HD version as OK for the 6Y2 Fabia 1.4 TDI 80 BHP - They request that I send back the removed HD version bushes (obviously damaged through being quickly removed) to my Ebay supplier for a reimbursement and that the supplier should in turn, send them back to Germany for testing and evaluation.

I have queried with them who is going to reimburse me for the extra £60.00 fitting charge and the various postage costs - I am still waiting for a response.

What does everyone think.

Acronym surely...

The original bushes on mine lasted about 80,000km and we're replaced with the later Skoda (Octavia style?) bushes at that time. Fast forward 240,000km and they're as good as the day they were fitted.

Mine too were originally replaced at 40,000 miles with the later Skoda bushes but they failed some 60,000 miles later, hence replacing them with the (as listed by Meyle as OK for the 6Y2 Fabia) Meyle HD version.

However I note you are talking about a Fabia TDI Combi which has probably got a slightly different suspension layout to the Fabia, not all bushes are suitable for all Skoda vehicles, especially the low down torque of the TDI engines.

The only differences with an estate and hatch are tailgate back lights and bumper and the extra 10 inches in length.
