Help please - Lost ring under seat trim.

Featured Replies

Hi

If anyone can help I would be most grateful, my Granddaughter dropped her favourite ring and it has gone down the opening where the passenger rear seat belt attaches to the floor. While trying to hook it out I have only managed to push it further down (under the floor trim).  I have tried fishing it out with various hooks etc with no luck.

It seems now the my only option is to remove/lift the trim.

So I'm after some help how to go about this, what trim panels do I need to remove etc..  Not sure what the panel is called but its the one under the rear seats.

Any help on this would be most welcome especially to the Granddaughter if I manage to retrieve the ring.

Many Thanks

Graham

Have you tried something very sticky on the end of some wire? Like; Carpet tape or blob of Araldite or super glue, the idea is to touch the ring with the wire and let the glue set then pull it out.

If you can feel where it is under the carpet apply some pressure to stop it going further.

Happy fishing.

If you need to lift the carpetlike trim under the rear seats, you should firstly remove all three rear seats.  Then possibly also remove one or  both of the two bars that the front of the rear seats locks onto. Carpet trim can now be lifted.
Bolt heads are XZN-type, not Torx.

Tried that Rick, it seems to be carpet stuck onto plastic trim so I can't feel where it is.  Appreciate the suggestion.

Is that simple  then, it seems I was trying to over think it.  So after I took the seats and bars off the carper/plastic trim will just lift up?

Have you tried sucking it up with a vacuum cleaner?

easier than dismantling.... and quicker

When installing the Webasto heater, I had to lift away this trim part to access the top of fueltank.

I get some XZN keys tomorrow and give it a whirl, thanks again.

Use a cloth to seal the hose to the general area

This kind of flexible vacuum extension hose is what you might need. Useful also for computer cleaning and other hard to reach areas.
