Can I ask a favour please.

Featured Replies

Woke up this morning and my windscreen was completely fogged up. I hit the windscreen max button, but it would only clear the fog up to about 3/4 of the screen. The top of the screen remained fogged up even at the end of a 300 mile round trip.

I stopped off at my local dealership on the way home and the sales manager jumped in the car and we tried a few different settings to clear the screen, but with no joy. What we did notice though was that even with the temp turned all the way down to low, when pressing the windscreen max button (the aircon button lit up) it was still blowing warm air up onto the windscreen

Now to my request. Could someone replicate what I tried and tell my if yours also blows warm air after pressing the windscreen max button with the temperature set all the way down to low.

Cheers,

Ivor.

Or search again on 'blowing hot air'. I havent suffered same but it does seem to be an issue with some vehicles.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm trying to ascertain. I get both warm air and cold air, but I only get warm air when I press the windscreen max button. Every other car I have owned blows cold or air con air when I press that button. When I press the button showing the windscreen and seat I can get whatever temp I set, but the windscreen max button will only blow hot. I'm just trying to find out if that is how it is on all Superbs.

Cheers.

Just tried mine @ 16.5, hit the screen max button and it blew cold.

Ivor, just tried this on the way home from work for you with different results to Dave.

I set mine to max cold LO and waited for the aircon to get up to speed ( and very cold ).

Pressed the windscreen Max button and the airflow changed to the windscreen but was then warm.

Car is 17 plate 150 TDi L&K

Hmm, interesting. So I wonder which one is 'normal' ?

Tried mine. Aircon was on 18.5 but it blew warm on max

I haven't tried it however I would expect it to do this (blow warm/hot) if you are demisting the windscreen, pretty sure that you cannot demist with cold air.

Warm air normal for clearing windscreen when set to max regardless of temp setting cold air will not clear fogging

cheers

Cold air won't, but air con will, hence why a lot of manufactures (including Skoda) use it in conjunction with the windscreen max button.

Did you drive your 300 mile round trip using aircon on or off as I don't understand how it didn't clear if the air con was on for full journey

mine starts to fog when I turn ac off literally straight away

switch back on and clears quickly

are your regular runs short or long as today?

Constant fogging can be due to short journeys and the car not getting warm enough for the moisture to evaporate and builds up on the inside of the roof skin causing fogging and makes it difficult to clear

I've only had the car a week and this was the first morning I woke up and found the windscreen all fogged up. I used the windscreen max button on first getting into the car, but it only cleared three quarters of the way up the screen. I tried it blowing hot air to the screen only on max, I tried it with the windscreen max button on full, I tried it with the air con on its own, it just wouldn't clear the top of the screen.

it perplexed me, hence me popping to the dealership and asking on here. I have an SII in my garage that I have done tens of thousands of miles in and never had this problem.

One thing has dawned on me though and that is I took the car to my local hand carwash on Saturday so maybe that has something to do with it ??

Air con is demisting fast no matter the temperature you set.

Does your car have a heated screen fitted ?

Does the windscreen have a skoda logo ?

If it is factory it should by rights be fine but i had to remove and refit 2 new mazda 3 windscreens the other day due to water ingress from factory so who knows

I have heated screen in mine if the fogging gets too much for fans i switch heated screen on to clear

No heated screen fitted. No idea regards logo, I haven't looked. I'll check later when SWMBO comes home.

Hot air on my L&K

Ok.. just got back in my car so engine is at running temp...

Tested :-

Auto Enabled > AC on > Temp Set to 16'c     === Pressed MAX - Warm air on Screen.  (mid range temp like 22'c)

Auto Enabled > AC on > Temp Set to 28'c     === Pressed MAX - Warm air on Screen. (cooler than the 28'c out of the front vents -)

This is the interesting part....

Auto Enabled > AC on > Temp Set to 16'c and PRESS the MANUAL windscreen demist from the centre button panel > Turn up the fans manually to MAX  (disables AUTO as expected) BUT the air is 16'c replicating the set temp.   If you then increase the TEMP setting, the air temp for the screen CHANGES as per the set temp, right upto HOT air at 28'c.

So maybe... theres some form of sensor at fault, software glitch with your car.

Note - this test was completed with the Supplementary heater option ticked. (this option can be enabled via pressing the MENU button on the climate control system and then settings.. )
