Can Insurance Teel If You Have Been Jabba'd?

Featured Replies

Obviously im not advocating going behind their tight fisted, scumbag backs, but how would they tell if you had been jabba'd, and you then went on to make a claim?

Any assessor could quite easily tell. Don't take the risk.

Edit: By having a look in the ECU, where there'll be a flash chip with "JABBA" emblazoned on it. Or reading the chip contents, no matter what's written on it.

Edit2: Although this is more relevant if you make a total loss claim.

They can see that the seal on the ECU is broken...non standard EEPROM (I guess VAG use a specific supplier although I guess Jabba could use the same).

Inspeciton of the code would reveal differences as well.

That said what they can't determine is what output you've got. Imean if you motors totalled how are they gonna put it on a rolling road? So I would say tell your insurance company but be liberial with the % increase.;)

Right or wrong....just MTPW.

eDITED: don't you just hate it when someone posts almost exactly what your typing.;)

I note the time of Howard's post with great interest ;)

hmmmmmm, do i detect i hint of suspicion in your post there Geoff??? Many thanks for the run out, i'm definitely converted to Jabba-isation (however 120mph cornering did scare the tits off me slightly - i suffer a nervous disposition when im in the passenger anyway - if you look carefully you might well find my hand imprint crushed in to your passenger side handrail).

Unfortunately, i contacted my current insurers as soon as i got home - they informed me that out of the

As for the insurance, what a rip-off !

Was this your first policy with that insurer? as they do tend to clobber you if you cancel part-way thru the first year.

it'll give Geoff something to put on his garden anyway.

Well - to say that post about insurance refund scared me a little, would be a major understatement.

I got on the phone to More Th>n straight away to find out how I'm set if I cancel after 4 months, and thankfully I get back
