Vrs estate at Lookers Preston

Recommended Posts

try get some history of the car off the dealer, Personally would only buy a vrs as second runaround car not as main family car depending on mileage + history. Full service history Is a must. Still got mine not an estate love it but its had some issues. 5 year owner

I love how they have blanked out the front reg. but have left the rear clearly on display :) .

Wondered if the reg rung any bells.

Interesting - so even if it's a good car your experience is that there will be problems round the corner.

it looks like a beautiful car but lacks the gadgets :(

When you say gadgets assume you mean cruise, rear electric windows, climate control  and satnav? It says it has Bluetooth (swing radio?) and I'm assuming cruise would be easy add on as it's a maxidot....

Pretty much yes, the estate are pretty rare (compared to the hatch) so you don't see that many for sale.

if you are near the Birmingham area, there's a chap called Tech1e and he can install cruise control (he's an ex Skoda tech I think), he's done quite a few including myself when I had my Monte Carlo.

i wouldn't say it was easy, the ECU needs opening up and a few pins installing.

If you are looking for a fabia vRS be sure to get it from a dealer, you will have 12 months warranty and make sure you monitor the oil as soon as, that way if its drinking oil it's better to get logged with Skoda U.K. sooner rather than later.

have a good look on the forums on what to look out for and stuff, there's loads. Offski's a good guy to have a chat with, he's clued up to the eye balls, he's like the ask Jeeves of briskoda.

Do all the checks on what features that car actually has, not what they say.

(Even in the might be fitted stuff, like Skoda info, SAFETY, there again says FRONT FOG LIGHTS, well that is unlikely.)

So check the full service history & is there, be sure it will have a Full Service before collection,

New Spark Plugs fitted, any software update done,

and what Warranty work if any has it had,

Has an Oil Consumption test been done or any work required etc.

Test drive and enjoy and hopefully it is a cracking good one.

Be sure of a Skoda Warranty and that the Skoda Dealership puts the car to Factory Settings before you buy,

that means Software Update and Steering, Braking & XDS settings all at Factory settings.

Thank you awayoffski. I might test drive and then follow through as outlined.

So mileage @ MOT was 52,229 & that is 15,286 since last MOT.

First Registered March 2013.

So be certain it has new Spark Plugs in now and that the latest software is on, no matter what a sales person says.

If not walk.

& was the DSG Service Campaign needed and done?

I would say if paying even near the 'Asking Price' then have them fit the Parking Sensors as part of the deal & the Major Service Done.

Then as to not many,

that is since out of the 2,900 or so Mk2 Fabia in the UK under 800 were Estates which is nice, but still do not pay too much for 1.

PS

Remember and tell the LOOKERS sales executive they need to advertise accurately and change the mileage even when they are only hundreds of miles out.

Check all the tyres match, then ask for a Tyre Pressure gauge to see the pressures.

Open the bonnet and dip the oil cold, after the test drive open and dip hot.

Just bust his or hers balls, be sure you know as much or more than them, and if they say never heard of issues ask what planet they have been living on and when they joined LOOKERS.

Does not matter where you are going on holiday etc, you are not there for a hair cut just to buy a car.....

PPS

Ask them if they just keep putting up the same stuff,

'leather interior'  no Leather trim, leather steering wheel.

Front Fog lights, no! Ask the Salesperson to go switch them on.

What is Automatic about the headlights?

Any update?

There is a cracking CTHE Estate in Red for sale in the 'Cars for sales' section of Briskoda.

I have seen that but I need to part ex and payment would be an issue.

The vrs I originally linked has gone so out of luck there. I am off to see a tdi Monte Carlo estate this weekend though.

And I have signed a deal on a tdi monte estate. Lovely car, great space and some nice toys so happy. I'll post separate/new thread when I actually pick the car up in a week.

Thanks to to all the advice re the vrs on this thread.
