Seems our yeti is going to go out on a down note (kodiaq is being built in three weeks time). This afternoon when cruising along the a1, pretty much fully laden, I heard a low rumbling noise between 2000 and 2500 rpm in 6th. It sounded like either a completely knackered wheel bearing, a resonating undertray or perhaps a struggling engine mount.

A quick google reveals that it's most likely the prop shaft's rear flexible coupling perishing and setting up resonance in the prop shaft itself at peak torque. Dunga!

Has anyone had to deal with this on their yeti? Seems it's a common problem on 4motion and Quattro drive trains, and the fix is a new propshaft or potentially a flexi coupling, if they're available. Someone on an Audi forum was quoted £1400 for the parts alone for an A3!

BMW I believe call it a guibo coupling .

Helped a mate install a new one in his 525 once.

we learnt a lesson the hard way about NOT taking the band off BEFORE you install it.

If you read the post you will see his car is being built in three weeks time, add on delivery and could be 7-8 weeks.

Probably doesn't want to risk chance of breaking down.
