And they're running different aero packs and tyres (tires?) from last year.

Sato will be a god in Japan after this.

  • Or that Pippa is a better driver than Fernando.

So you didn't wince at every 220mph+ overtaking manoeuvre into the turns in the first 450 miles then?   I know I did!   Monaco hasn't really excited me since watching Berger qualif

Chrvys lapping at over 230 mph average and hitting almost 240 mph !

Alonso failed to qualify.

Goes into tomorrow's shootout for a place on the back row - grid slots 31 to 33.

Not in the same league as CART way back in the 90's then. Back then Indy record was around 237 mph for 4 laps, with a single lap over 239 and Fontana was even faster - pole laps at over 241/242 mph.

And that's not even a real "bump day" I think; there should be about 13 cars chasing those 3 slots for that to happen.

Formula-e is a city based race series and advertised that it zero emissions and not adding to the pollution in cities which is literally shortening the lives of millions of people.

EVs are already the fastest production road cars, just a matter of time that they are same on the track, EVs should be 4 wheel drive of course.

2 wheel drive performance cars, especially front wheel drive ones are so yesterday !

Qually changed this year. The top 9 have a pole shootout today. Those from 31-36 are also back out fghting for the back row. Bump day was part of the whole month of Indy, but now they only practice for one week before qualifying.

Too many accidents (even for open wheels) ......

Can't afford a supercar whether it is electric or petrol power. Only rich people can enjoy these cars if you look at their silly prices.;)

If one wants to experience real supercar performance then use a motorcycle.

Even my £5k little R3 does 0-60 in 5 seconds (what does your 340 hp FWD Octy do by the way, ever run it down the strip ?)

Really quick bikes similar price, or less, compared to a average price euro box, A3, Golf, Leon, Octy etc. if for just a twice the price a H2R with 310 hp at £44k or so.....

Too dangerous once saw a biker going too fast slide under a lorry trailer and lose his head which was still inside his helmet, grisly but true. Hope you ride better than him for the sake of your family. Zero protection on a bike when it goes pear shaped.

@shyVRS245

My friends head came off when his bike hit a lamp post in the 30 mph limit on a corner about 500 yards from my house,

he was likely not doing much more than double the speed limit if even that.

I think he probably met something coming in the other direction and had to avoid.

@shyVRS245 @Skoffski - Is this a good time to mention that I've seen a car almost cut in half by hitting a tree side on?

Sorry to hear that put proves just how dangerous a bike can be. You can be going slowly when a car driver pulls out from a T junction and the bike has no where to go. The guy I saw overtook me and I told the Police he was doing about 90mph in a 30mph limit so gave the lorry driver no time to react because he couldn't see the biker who was behind me then accelerating hard to pass me.

Rider and Driver/passenger safety making massive strides.

Necks are a weak point in the safety products developed.

All new bikes have ABS, one can have air bag leathers, kevlar armouring all over the suits but necks are a challenge to protect, needs an air collar of some form, a bit more than this suit below.....

Oh and assume every other road user may do something dumb/unexpected, slow at T junctions etc, good advice in a car also.

My brother had a Ford Sierra company car many years ago and going round a corner he found a young guy on the wrong side of the road in an Escort showing off to his mate. The crash caused the Sierra to split in half behind the B pillar, my brother was thrown from his car which burst into flames and left a permanent whole in the hedge where it came to rest. The guys in the Escort both suffered multiple fractures of both legs as a result of the accident they caused. My brother was very lucky to escape with a few gravel rashes and bruises.

@shyVRS245

I was at less than 30 mph when a car turned across my path to go down a side street and amputated my right leg.

Lots of people really shouldn't be on the roads with a total lack of awareness for others be they pedestrians, cyclists or motorcyclists. Human error causes the majority of accidents compared to mechanical failures (tyre blow out).

DNQ.

34th place on the 33 car grid.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Another amazing non-event from Mclaren.

So , Fernando & Zak Brown, if you were going to do that again what would you do differently?

Apart from not running your own team of course...

and equally not doing the technical partnership with Carlin Motorsport, the team who managed 35th and 36th place.

I bet the Indycar regulars are p1551ng themselves laughing 😂😂😂

Well it was not Alonso's engine as he also runs a Chevy like Penske who put it on pole........

Mind you very tight field ie 1% covering pole and not qualifying.

The sheer arrogance of McLaren to rock up at Indy, with no testing even, and expect to get in. Breathtaking.

Looking forward to the race though, as pointed out above the field is very close (although being 1% off puts you 2 laps down at the end) and it's likely there'll be several hundred more passing manoeuvres than at Monaco earlier in the day.

Well done to Brit Pippa Mann finishing 16th in the Indy 500 anf finishing on the same lap ie 200th as the winner !

Indeed. And doesn't that show that McLaren are completely down the toilet these days.
