V6 Mondeos - What do you know about them?

Featured Replies

The sensible way to get some decent power and torque is a N/A engine with lots of cylinders ;)

I suggest that the *sensible* way is actually to have a small displacement engine with a turbocharger. Good economy and pwer when you need it -Assuming that the owner understands the mechanical limitations and requirements & treats it with the respect it deserves.... :)

A Ford V6? only if someone donated me a petrol station..... My 2.0 Ford used more fuel than the vRS!

Can you get an HSV estate.. sorry, station wagon ?

The cars I sold were imports mind you, but sadly I never saw an estate. Holden do make an estate Commodore, but it only has a V6 engine and you would have to approach an importer such as Bauer Millet (generally too expensive but they have a great web site) or one of the American importers that you see advertised in the back of car mags. You could try haggling with these companys as they keep cars for a couple of years if they can't sell them and would probably take a drop of several thousand pounds in order to get shot.

We sold one (a stretched Holden!) and as we had it for around 18 months. As the punter was driving up to see us, the Boss said

Almost:

The V6 Commodore wouldnt offer anything over a Mondeo though. Shame they dont do an HSV estate :(

I had a V6 Ghia X up to 2001. Loved it to bits. Lovely grunt, and a better chassis than the Octavia. 170bhp felt pretty much identical to the VRS. ST220 must be great fun :D

this may be a bit 'left wing' but if ur after a N/A estate how about an Alfa 156 GTA..3.2V6!!!...check them out they are sooo cheap now!...makes up for any repair costs i guess;)

If you've not been in an Alfa for a while you may be suprised how good the build quality actually is these days, they've never had any reliability problems with the mechanicals either it was just the cheap russian metal they used to build em out of that caused all the problems!

Similarly Fiats are well made these days too, went out in a Punto Sporting last night - was really suprised how solid and creak/rattle free it was!

Mispost!
