Wheel Bearings

Featured Replies

So - my Combi SE Exec came back from it's second service (19000 miles) with an amber advisory for worn front wheel bearings (500 quid to replace).  I have pointed out that this cannot be correct.  The warranty people are inspecting the car next week to see if it is covered by the warranty, but surely wheel bearings should last longer than 19 k (its a 65 plate).  Has anybody else had similar issues?

My opinion is it warranty work.

They will try and wriggle out at a Warranty Claim as " You've hit a pot hole and it's damaged the bearing, sorry not a warranty job "

Wheel bearings on the Octavia 3 and superb 3 have been a problem for some time. Never in a million years should you be paying whilst the cars under warranty.

go back to the dealer who gave you the report and slap them with it.

Did they actually clarify the reason they needed replacing?

Thanks for the replies.  They can't blame it on a pothole because it is both front wheels (that would be one big pothole)!  They are just saying that they are excessively worn (amber on the service).  Interesting that you say this issue has been around for a while - I have tried to find a thread, but no joy so far.

I've had a front bearing replaced in the last couple of months...no questions asked just had to call one day for them to diagnose and another to get it done once they got the part in.
