Rear differential Oil leak

Featured Replies

I happened to notice a few oil drops underneath my 4 year old Yeti . Further investigation revealed that it comes from where the rear differential connects the axle (near the rubber boot). There is no damage to the haldex unit or under body parts. Could it be the haldex oil that leaks ? Is there an oil seal that needs to be changed ? Could anyone please advise ?

That'll be the rear axle itself and will require a driveshaft oil seal.

This is interesting and should be investigated right away I will give you my story. My Yeti outdoor March 2014 and just 1 month out of service broke down on April23 with the rear Haldex unit completely broken.I was last serviced in Feb when the oil Haldex was changed. Both Skoda and Dealer say one of these things.I disagree as car has only done 34000 miles and has been regularly serviced.Cost to fix £3800 and Skoda says will cover 70% leaving me with a bill of £1200.l have driven new Skodas for the past 15 yrs,one every 3 yrs.

i can't see that l have any redress but l would appreciate members views on this. I do feel at this moment that my next car will be other than a Skoda
