Tractors are:blush:

Hey Bud, that's a bit harsh.... funny but harsh, ha ha.

Unfortunately I can't make a direct comparison but I find mine to be very quiet, in fact, I would say that the overall ambient noise in the cabin is less that my Toyota Avensis (petrol).

I had two 170 TDIs before and I would consider my new 150TDI to be quieter and more refined.  Where exactly are you finding most of the noise resonating - is it general cabin noise?  The 150 can be a little gruff under acceleration when cold but on balance I find it quieter and once it settles at speed it is like a petrol.

I've found the exact opposite.  I've had a mix of VAG diesels in the last 10 years, with the older 130 and 140 PD engines and more recently the 140, 150 and 184 CR engines.

The 150 in my Sportline is the most refined of them all, surprisingly so.  I'm even shocked at how quiet the engine sounds when it fires up using the stop/start system.  The 184 in my Leon FR sounded just like the agricultural 130 PD in my Fabia vRS.
