Door hinges lubrication

Featured Replies

Had the Roomie since new and the door hinges always have look dry. Perhaps they are lubricated at the factory for life. There is no tell-tale white grease on the door stays or pivots and on return from servicing there is no indication of lubrication. Are door hinges and stays not smeared with grease these days?

They probably "are", but it won't last forever. I use a spray can of lithium grease to lubricate the door pivots and the bonnet lock every few months.

I use a clear spray grease again every couple of months. I try to keep it to the hinge contact points because road dirt really sticks to it and makes a lovely mess.

But yeah they should be greased every service at the bare minimum.
