Poly Bushing a Fabia

Featured Replies

Evening folks

Has anyone polybushed there Fabia?

I just get the impression my Fabia VRS is getting a little lazy at the front, and I'm sure it's like a worn bush kinda feeling.

60 plate, on 67k...

Worthwhile doing?

Thanks

I'm soon to be doing this in the next couple of weeks 11 plate with 52k. I do get the feeling the front end is getting slack I replaced the rear shock absorbers last month as peace of mind and will be looking at doing all the front.

Yeah glad it's not just me then!

I have 60 reg 1.2 tsi Elegence that has poly bushes nearly all round including arb ,lower engine mount, just not the upper shock mounts.

And it's worth getting done

Any reason for not doing the top mounts?

Wanted to see what the difference would be, still considering bilstein b4s when it's ready to replace stock shocks. Also considering fitting cat back S/S exhaust. I did also get a remap and fit all season tyres at same time so spent quite a bit at once.

Also don't think the top bushes would only have a small influence on performance

Don't think I'd do the top mounts or anti-roll bar ones myself, they tend to last around 10 years unlike the bottom arms which is more like 3 - 5 years.

Remember there is a downside to all the pollybushes, comfort and vibrations through the car are more common after fitting polly bushes and harshness over bumps thatbtbe standard rubber absorbes travels through the car with polly bushes.

I can't think of much worse than top mounts some as well :D

You are right on reflection ride is harsher over bumps when driven bit too fast and pot holes. But that's to be expected when stiffening any suspension. Suppose that's why some reluctance to change the standard springs and shocks as that would make that car too firm for road use. There was increase car shake of the car with fitting lower engine mount bush, caused by air con kicking in on idle. The remap solved this by increase of idle from 850 to 950. Dyno  showed idle down to 750ish with air con.

Oh yeah I realise it should stiffen it to be fair, but then I want it to do that as I'm doing a sprint series soon.

Have either of you done the dog bone mount bush?

I have on the 1.9 Fabia.

awful :D

Ah!

I've been told to fit the red Diesel one, and then some said its too vicious for the VRS

Yes yours would be Red for diesel note not recommended for 1.4 3 cylinder , mine is Yellow for petrol with Blue for track use , this would be the real harsh one. There may be difference between red and yellow for engine weight or for fuel resistance. As the blue one doesn't mention it is probably suitable for petrol or diesel so colour difference is not due to fuel but engine weight.

Yeah sure.

I see they tend to list track use ones now as the Black Series Bushes.

Either way, ill get it changed to at least a yellow one, and see if that makes much difference.

I got red one Steve everyone recomends it it is the diesel one but ant had it and so does Rick

Ive done all my bushes and can't say it's all that much worse. (Also a heavy nosed 1.9)

With my 1.2 I noticed a shake of the car when the aircon came on at idle, so when I had it remapped I had the idle increased from 850 to 950, aircon dropped the idle to 750 rpm, if your vrs idles at the same rpm you have the same result when the aircon switches on whilst at idling.

Anyone used SuperPro instead of Powerflex?

Need to order these next week, so just seeing if there as good

They are just a cheaper alternative really. Still do the same thing but again harshness levels change.

Cheers Rich.

Im going for Powerflex I think

SuperPro all round in mine including the Dog Bone one...:)

I have above and Coilovers and RARB and handling is awesome!

There all on the to do list!

  • 4 weeks later...

Did this today replaced both bushes on the front wishbone with powerflex black series bushes, first impressions is it is a lot more responsive at the front no more slackness.
