Overfilled oil again! possible effects?

Featured Replies

My car was in for its service(40'000 miles) last week and despite my warning they've over filled the oil. It looks like the level is upto the kink in the dipstick so we're not talking a small amount. Only once out of the last 3 services has the oil been filled correctly, so am concerned as to the possible effects or damage as a result of all this.

Clearly oil is good for an engine, but surely too much is bad?

dont use it anymore and call skoda,if it was anything like the smart car i had it does your turbo in.

CALL THEM NOW:mad:

seems there's some confusion as to whether it's actually overfilled, bit if it is, don't drive it, it will knacker it up.....

Its fine up to the kink.

I always keep my oil level up to the upper kink in the dipstick. I guess it's good practice for garages to fill up to this upper limit as many people don't even bother to check their oil level between services. They probably see it as if it burns a bit of oil then hopefully it won't go below the lower level before the next service.

Thanks guys i'll stop panicking then! Just annoyed that i think they took my message the wrong way and actually over filled it!

I always find that i dont need to top it up as by the time the service comes round again its still only down to the top of the hatched section.
