Happy to be corrected but I don't think there have been too many cases of DSG clutches slipping per se. Most of the problems reported have been related to either the mechatronic unit and/or the gearbox oil and if you search the forum you will find much information on the related Service Campaign. I recall Volkswagen tested the DSG boxes, both dry and wet versions, for around 125k miles without any slipping issues so unless yours is reaching that mileage you should be fine.

Is your car one that can have the Service Campaign done for free, or has it been done.

There should be a sticker in the Spare Tyre Well beside the VI Sticker if done, with '34F7' on it.

The Synthetic Oil from the factory is changed for mineral and a software update for the DSG.

(Check with a Main Dealer or Skoda UK CS if there is no sticker in the book or anything in the service book if you have one.)

So this DSG recall etc?

I don't have the sticker in my boot, and when I put my reg in the recall bit on the website it says no outstanding recalls...

Does mine need it? (I know that's maybe an obvious question due to it saying nothing outstanding...!)

Hi there, my wife's VRS DSG had the recall with the oil change and software update over a year ago from memory. However, in the last couple of months the gear change has become very jerky and clonky! It is worse when its cold and it sometimes it can't make it's mind up which gear it wants to be in. The car has only done 40000 miles and had a factory replacement engine due to oil usage at 15000 miles. It only does 6000 miles a year and I am  not sure what the problem is or who to take it to as I don't have any confidence in DM Keith.

There were no fault codes coming up when I had RustyNuts replace the stereo. Any ideas please? Hoping it won't cost an arm and leg.

Skoda UK Customer Services will probably refer you back to DM Keith since they did the Service Campaign work on thew DSG.

Tell them you want the DSG checked out by someplace with Competent Techs as the DSG seems to have issues.

Since the replacement engine was fitted has it had new spark plugs fitted or anything else done that might be due after 25,000 miles.

What happened with Servicing has it been done at 10,000 miles, then 20,000 since it was fitted?

(Doh sorry, or at 21,000, 28,000,34,000 & now at 40,000 on the cars milometer?)

The replacement engine and DSG box recall was fitted at the Local Nissan garage, which had a VW/Skoda specialist garage attached. They have since closed that part and I know the Master Tech moved to DM Keith and I believe now works at Seat.  I have serviced the car myself every 10k miles with genuine parts from TPS and replaced the spark plugs last year (within the last 4k miles) I have little  or no faith in DM Keith as they have messed up with everything they have done and the service manager lies! It has not had any software updates since the recall and it seems to have a mind of its own. My Octavia Vrs TDi DSG has a smooth change but the Fabia has always seemed to rev to 4000rpm before changing up for some reason. When going up hill it will stay in 3rd even at 40-45mph but if you put cruise control on it will happily pull up the same hill at 30mph in 4th.

I am taking my Octavia in tomorrow for some warranty work as the tailgate and bolts which hold the spoiler on the hatch have rusted. I may well ask them as its getting worse.

An example of DM Keith is that i took my car in in February and the service manager took photos and said he would contact warranties. I never heard anything so went to Leeds and dealt with the bodyshop directly. It has taken 3 months and me having to take 3 lots of photographs for Skoda to decide to approve the repair. I called in to Huddersfield 2 weeks ago to get the bodyshop email address and the service manager bluntly informed me that the claim had been rejected and the car needed the paint depth checking. When I told him I had already had that done and was sending some more photos he didn't know where to look and then to confirm the lie, the bodyshop confirmed they had no knowledge of him sending any photos to warranties. This is only the last of a very long list of their lies and incompetence.

The issue is the DSG. You had the Skoda UK / CZ Service campaign as there was no European 'Recall' just a World Wide one not including Europe.

So contact Skoda UK and see where you can go, SEAT, VW or an Audi Maindealer or some other Skoda Main Dealer, but that is the only way you can hold them to sorting the Fundamental Design, Manufacturing, Component or Fluids Failure that required a Service Campaign.

Otherwise you could end up paying a few thousand quid from your own pocket.

Visited DM Keith Leeds yesterday and dropped my car off for the warranty paint job. They checked the Fabia on their systems and found that it had the DSG recall back in 2014. When I asked what options I had they said they don't warranty warranty work and they recommend changing the oil every 4yrs or 40k miles. It is now booked in for next month and will cost £90 just to put it onto their diagnostic. They want it dropping off at tea time so that they can check it when it is cold in the morning as that is when it is worse. They will be told not to do anything without contacting me first!

The last thing I need is a bill for thousands as you said. However, my wife has pointed out that it would be better to have to spend some on it as it is paid for and she doesn't want to swap it.

Really DM Keith are recommending changing oil in a DQ200 DSG every 4 years or 40,000 miles.

Would this be both oil types, in the sealed for life box that VW had a world wide recall on and have never given a Service Schedule for from 2009 or since the recalls 2012/13?

(SKODA UK began the SERVICE CAMPAIGN May 2014.  NO WARRANTY CAMPAIGN.)

The World Wide Recall had the Warranty extended on the DSG, not in Europe though.

In New Zealand a new MCU was fitted.

http://skoda.co.nz/news/dsg-service-campaign

I think someone is mixing up 6 speed wet clutch and 7 speed dry clutch @ DM KEITH..

DM Keith are not Warranting Warranty Work,  THEY NEED TO GUARANTEE THEY DID THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN CORRECTLY AS VW INSTRUCTED THEN VW ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE IF THERE ARE FAILINGS STILL AFTER THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN CHANGES.

They DM KEITH were the being paid Agent for VW / Skoda on a Service Campaign, there was a World Wide recall for prevenrative work changing Synthetic Oil over to mineral and doing a Software Update,

on DSG with no Service intervals.   No Warranty Work, a recall or service campaign in Europe.

So VW Group need to answer if now a DQ200 requires a oil change every 4 years / 40,000 miles,

because if so Skoda UK, or Skoda CZ or VW need to pay for them being done.

Someone at DM Keith needs to talk with Skoda UK or someone that knows their Ar35 from their elbow.

To be fair, this is why I'm reluctant to go to my local Skoda dealer...DM Keith in Hull...

Ive asked simple questions before and pretty much told them the answer after much confusion...I dread to think what I'd get told if I asked about DSG recalls etc..

Might try Westgate at Grimsby

Buyers bought Mk2 vRS or Polo GTI. Ibiza or A1 Twinchargers or many other Euro 5 cars with DQ200 7 Speed DSG that had no service intervals.

These are not 6 Speed Wet clutch DSG with 40,000 mile service intervals.

So basically if after VW Group decided that the Synthetic oil could be a cause of internal corrosion or what ever and that Mineral OIl should go in then

there should be instructions on Oil Changes required or scheduled changes, and since this would be £175 a time if like with the

6 speed wet clutch boxes then that would be down to VW Group to be paying out on that.

DM Keith's Workshop Manager or Master Tech should be asked what the story is if it is a Service Desk Employee that is saying an oil change is recommended at 40,000 miles or 4 years.

For those with a 6 speed Wet Clutch DSG it is not a recommendation it is the Service Schedule / Guideline.
