Wireless charging - Galaxy S8

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any luck with using the wireless charging in the phone box of Mk III for a long phone like Samsung Galaxy S8? It's a shame that such a phone makes the wireless charging useless.

I have s7 edge works fine, I load screen first as phone slightly too big for wireless charger

Sorry what do you mean? Are you able to put the S7 into the phone box? S8 is longer and it doesn't fit.

S8 fits and charges wireless.

Charges whether 100% in recess or not. Mine with a Speigen gel case fits snugly in the recess.( Not shown below, but it does. )

Are you sure you have the charging functionality? Does your Phone box look like the one in the picture biomulv posted? I ask because, I have the 'Phone Box' but I don't have the charging functionality... I mistakenly thought 'Phone Box Charging' was standard in my model but it isn't, it was an optional extra

The difference is that my phone doesn't sit on a flat base as in the photo above.

To confirm the s7 edge is slightly longer than the s8. Loading my phone screen first the charming works fine. Loading the bottom of phone first and the charging is intermittent.

This is the same as mine, it simply enhances the signal but doesn't charge the phone....

Has anyone tried to charge iphone 8 plus already? Have seen box max size 146 x 80 but not sure if phone can be also charged when it is out for some 10mm?

Works for my s8.

My Iphone 8plus in case works absolutely fine. It doesn’t lay completely flat but it is in close enough proximity for charging to take place.

I have an S7 if it is connected to usb cable and wireless charging it overheats, so have to put it screen down. Would have thought that it would use one or the other not both.

I use Android Auto which needs a decent cable so wish I could switch it off, but keep the signal boosting.

I have the S8+ and it has been charging fine since i owned the car. One thing i did notice is i had a magnet on the back of the phone as i had it for the windscreen suction cup when i had it on there it would not wirelessly charge the phone but as soon as i removed that i had no problems at all. Hope this helps in some way. :)

Wireless charging is done via induction, which is using an electromagnetic field to transfer energy so yeah I imagine a magnet would interfere with that :)

I was happy with my s8+ charging when I tried the new Karoq. I finaly bought an octavia mk3 and What a disapointment, my s8+ and my wife' iPhone 6+ won't fit in the octavia Phonebox. :'(

Cables for the next 5 years, again... Grrrr. :-(
