YETI AUTO 1.2 DSG ENGINE JUDDER???

Featured Replies

MY 6 yr. OLD 1.2 Yeti...DSG AUTOMATIC SOMETIMES 'JUDDERS' AS I PULL AWAY FROM 'STOP', IT FEELS AS THOUGH I AM NOT GIVING ENOUGH ACCELERATION.  IT GIVES THIS JUDDER WHEN GEARS CHANGE UP FROM 1st. TO 2nd. THE REST OF THE UPWARD GEAR CHANGING IS PERFECTLY SMOOTH. OUT OF 'HOPE', I HAVE TRIED GIVING MORE ACCELERATION FROM 'REST', BUT THE SHUDDER STILL OCCURS.  ANY IDEAS WELCOME.   THANKS.  YANI (ex BURGUNDY BOY ).

Has it been in for the Service Campaign '34F7' to have the Mechatronic Control Unit checked, & the Synthetic Oil changed to mineral and a Software Update of the DSG ECU?

Best have it checked out incase an engine mount, or a DSG issue like the Clutch Packs.

THANK YOU 'AWAYOFFSKI' !!  I COULD NOT TAKE THE CAR TO THE SKODA DEALER AS USUAL FOR IT'S LAST SERVICE, AS I HAD A BROKEN WRIST WHEN IT'S SERVICE WAS DUE AT CLAYBANK, ECCLES.   A VERY LOCAL REPAIR FIRM COLLECTED FOR BASICS..THEY HAVE A VERY GOOD REPUTATION FOR 'HEAVY REPAIR WORK', BUT ARE NOT THE INTRICATE ENGINEERS FOR THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU SUGGEST COULD BE RESPONSIBLE, SO THE ANSWERS ARE 'NO' TO WHAT YOU ASK ABOUT IT'S HISTORY, IN YOU EXCELLENT REPLY WITH SUGGESTIONS. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT I NEED TO GET IT TO CLAYBANK ( NOW TAKEN OVER BY LOOKERS ) OR TO LOOKERS AT THEIR DEALERSHIP ON BURY NEW RD.  MANY MANY THANKS !!  Yani.

Look in the Spare Tyre Well beside the VIN Sticker and see if there is a sticker with the Service Campaign '34F7' showing it as done.

This might show it as outstanding if so, but not always so you need to check with a Main Dealership or Skoda UK Customer services.

Can you please turn off the capitals.

You need someone who understands the DSG system. That does not have to be Lookers, but could be a local independent who specialises in VAG cars

Thank you Llanigraham...there is a main VAG (VW) dealer one mile from my home, Smith Knight Fay. I will drive in tomorrow. Sorry about the capitals..a habit.   Thanks again.      Yani.

Llanigraham,

Not if you want Skoda paying for their failures that required VW to have a World Wide Recall of millions of DQ200 DSG but just a cut price European Service Campaign.

You get Skoda UK (VW Group) to have the diagnosis done and pay even on a 6 year old European Manufactured DSG

Hello again Genlemen...  Firstly, before I got your 2nd. message Mr. awayoffski, I just now acted on the suggestion by Llannigraham, and Iv'e just been up to the VAG dealership a few minutes from me, they are 'promotor' and seller of the VW logo..only many many VW's for sale, and seem to be VW obsesssed . I approached a chap at the service ( 4 of them ) and the one whom I explained the problem to, first of all seemed a little retiscent at my mention of the word SKODA !! However, I politely persevered and suggested that as a VAG dealership, I could see no reason not to help with my Yeti's problem. He first said that there equipment was geared to VW, and that I WOULD be better taking her to a Skoda outlet, namely the one I bought it from : Claybank at Eccles (now a Lookers takeover) I said that the distance was now difficult for me, as if I left it with them, I would have a painful journey home ( Arthritic L hip ) which whilst driving, the left leg is always at rest. Eventually, he went through into the srevice bays to speak to an engineer, and came back more or less repeating what he had initially told me. It seemed obvious that they didn't really want to know, I might be mistaken !   was 'on the go' and it is innundated with staff, 5 salesmen busy selling,  and a queue for cars waiting their turn to get into the service Dept;

I have looked at the VIN plates..found 1 in rear, 1 on door pillar, and the one in the widscreen, none show the 34F7 sticker, and having looked at your link ( thank you ) the Yeti model involved is a deisel, so in my limited knowlege, I don't THINK my gearbox needed that upgrade, but am I right ??? !!  I left the place feeling a bit 'narked', and here I am wondering my next move. Maybe I could ask Claybank to collect it at a charge, inspect and report back. IF, repeat IF they still have the same 'head' service boss, whom I found to be a very pleasant chap, I might get some advice/help from him.  Let's see.  Yani.

Unfortunately that does mirror the symptoms of the DQ200 clutch pack problem.

We had this on our 1.2TSi Fabia and had the clutch pack replaced under warranty at 18000 miles and now one of our Yeti's is doing it at 4500miles.

One point, I didn't say take it to another VAG outlet, but to an independent garage that specialises in VAG products. I am sure there will be one in your area.

Sorry Llanigraham, I have just read again your initial reply...I must have  misunderstood...probably still in the panic state that I'm still in.   My problem, I would imagine, COULD be sorted by a DSG experienced service garage/workshop, it's just a case of making sure I don't fall for the wrong guys, who say they ARE the right guys to deal with it.. and are NOT . Regards  Yani.

The '34F7' sticker would be next to the full VIN sticker in the spare tyre well if done.

You check with a Skoda Main Dealer or Skoda UK Customer Services if a VW Main Dealer do not want to check on the system, some can not and some say they can not. (I get Skoda's serviced at a VW Main Dealership with is happy to do the work as they are not a group with a Skoda Dealership and happy to compete.)

The 1.2 TSI petrol with the DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG gets Service Campaign '34F7',

the VW Group Diesel Engine cars '1.6 TDI CR's' part of the campaign if they have a DQ200 DSG.

The point about finding out if you had it done or should have been informed as a Registered Keeper is it can help you get help from Skoda

if there is a fault even with a 6 year old car.

...................

Off Topic.

But for those with a DQ200 DSG 2013-2015 which have mineral oil from the factory,

they might be part of the new Service Campaign '34H5', a Software Update.

Started late 2016.

Hi Awayoffski..there is no  34F7 sticker that you say should be next to the VIN label in the wheel well. I also know that the car was re-filled with synthetic lubricant a year ago ( at the local engineering lads that I mentioned above) as I said, it  you iniwas not really in their experience scope to do anything other than oil change, filter, da de da.  I stated that I had a broken arm at the time, and couldn't have gone to the dealer where bought from : CLAYBANK.  I have done a lot of reading on here since I first posted the problem, and have learned quite a lot about the faults with the DSG gearbox in VAG vehicles of certain manufacturing dates...it seems to me that I have the very problem that you i dentified above. In other words, I have a faulty uninspected/unmodified unit. I'm no engineer, just after many years a car owner, I understand the 'outlines' or get the 'jist' of what experienced people, as yourself, and other contributors to this topic are 'telling me'. I feel lost, don't know who to approach locally, and have visions of ending up at a Skoda dealer for the fault rectifying, and a massive hole in wallet.   Yani.

If there is a fault it is likely the Clutch Packs and you need to have this diagnosed and then new ones fitted which is a specialist job that requires the specialist tools and knowledge to do this.

So the Skoda Dealership is the best place to go.

Find out if the Service Campaign applied to you because the relevant years are 2009-2013 for the DQ200 7 speed dry clutch DSG.

(Some had Synthetic Oil from the factory some did not.)

The function of the Mechatronic Control Unit needs checked then the Clutch Packs.

?

How many miles has you Yeti done?

Is the other servicing up to date because as well as the DSG being checked you need to know that all is well with the engine, spark plug and coils and there is no other reason for the juddering at low speeds.

All the best with it.

Hello again Awayoffski .. I have spoken to Claybank ( last evening at 1730).  The same staff are there, apart from a couple of new people from the Lookers group. I am phoning very short;y when service reception lady ( very helpful inmy previous early visits for service )..She knows a lot of mechanical stuff herself, having been there for 'ages'. Coincidently, I actually spoke y/day to the salesman who sold me the Yeti, I trusted him and still do. He suggested arranging a date to get it in and borrow a courtesy car.  The mileage is low for her age, at present: 37.678, she had only 19.000 when I bought ( an elderly couple had just traded her in for a NEW Yeti.    I will ask ( check) about the 2009 - 2013 Service campaign..they had the Yeti from day 1, so should be well aware of things, and the good thing is, I have always felt comfortable there, and I am 'good' at people..I'm a Clinical Psychologist.  Phoning now, many many thanks for your help. I will be back to let you know the outcome when appropriate.   Regards  Yani   ( David)
