Electric Boot closing itself

Featured Replies

Had a dashcam installer back today to check the wiring on my dashcam. He was bending over into the boot and I was towards the front of the car. I heard some beeping as I moved towards him and he asked me what it was. To my horror the boot was closing down towards his head. I pushed the button to stop it quickly. I then opened it again and it beeped to close again. Is it because he was leaning against the bumper slightly? His foot was nowhere near the sensor for the virtual pedal so not sure what was causing it to shut. If you walk away from it when open does it close itself, don't think it does?

I have had the same event happen.

Always seems to be when I have a bootfull of gear to unload and I'm leaning into the load bay - beep beep and down comes the boot lid

I was going to get it checked out by dealer at first service, what I dont understand is that Skoda have stopped the sunroof from being closed via a long press on the key (as per MKII) - due to safety reasons, but are quite happy for the boot lid to knock you out by auto closing :@
