Getting fe up with VAG.

Featured Replies

Nearly reached the end of my tether with VAG and Skoda. Since October when the Emissions remap was carried out on my 2010 Yeti the blasted DPF light comes on regularly, dealers answer is I don't do enough mileage, funny that, when I bought the car in 2014, no problem with the DPF and doing roughly the same mileage as now. Also the recommended gear change on the matrix is inop, anyone have any idea if it may be linked, worked perfect before the re-map. Also yesterday the near side doors don't lock on the fob nor the key and also near side wing mirror electrics inop, any ideas on that before the dealer takes some of my hard earned.

The gear change recommendation on the Maxidot can be turned off in the options, look to see if the box is ticked.
The door locks and mirror electric faults is probably a broken cable in the rubber boot between the door and door jamb where the cable runs thru.

I believe there was an issue relating to wiring looms to the front doors, which were incorrectly routed (too "tight" where they pass from door to A-pillar) causing wires to crack/break.

If the issues are just in the front door, that's where I'd be looking; if you have issues in the rear door as well, probably something else...

Sometimes odd electrical issues are caused by a failing battery (which still starts the car OK and appears OK when tested). As yours is a 2010 model then the battery is getting on a bit - plenty have had to change batteries at way less than 7 years old (myself included) due to odd issues, warning lights etc.

What mileage has you car done, out of interest ?

DPFs don't have unlimited lifespans; at higher mileages they tend to require more frequent regenerations and ultimately can need replacing. The emissions fix increases EGR and this in turn appears to increase soot production, which will fill the DPF even quicker causing more frequent regenerations.

Maybe this is a glimpse into the future of cars with the emissions fix, as they get older and more miles under their belt.

Depending exactly what ECU your car has, it may be possible to downgrade the software and effectively remove the fix. Without an autoscan from VCDS it's hard to say for sure.

As others have said, the locking/mirror issue might be due to wiring. Again, an autoscan will give you some pointers and VCDS can do output tests on the door controller.

Well those of us who have declined VAG's 'fix' are suffering none of these ECU infarctions - there is a growing groundswell of disaffected VAG owners whose cars have been adversely affected. Of course dealers and VAG deny there is any connection, but mysteriously they are picking up the tab for replacement EGR valves and other affected components!

It's an almighty c*ck up by VAG in a poor attempt to get themselves 'off the hook' over their emissions testing duplicity.

Your other issues have been flagged up before.

Good luck in getting it sorted

I suspect you could 'confirm' absolutely anything if you trawled social media for long enough.  See Trump, D.
