Aircon: cold driver side, ambient passenger side

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

i have a 57 plate Octavia Estate 2.0TDI. Over the past few sunny weeks I have noticed the aircon seems to blow cold on the driver's side, but on the passenger side it is blowing air that is just the ambient air temperature.

i'm quite happy to poke around and am pretty handy with a spanner, can anyone suggest where to start with fixing this myself?

i'd like to get it sorted before we head off to the continent this summer!

cheers

It may sound daft, But have you got the dual air con selected? As in this mode you can select different temps for each side.

Could be your vent temperature sensor. Had this fail on two octys. The issue I had was that my passenger side always blew cold whatever it was set to and irrespective of driver side temp. If you can get the fault codes read, that would confirm. Although sensor is cheap the dash had to come out to access it.

Yeh, I've got them both set to Lo. Still relatively warm on the passenger side.

Where is the OBDII port located?

cheers

Do a search on here. I remember someone had the same problem about a year ago and the cause was low refrigerant in the air con system. It was said that the refrigerant enters on the driver's side.

Right hand side, between the drivers side drop down storage drawer and the bonnet release pull, and to the right of the steering column, there is an access point /cut out.

Also worth checking if the temperature sensors are still in place? A couple of mine had come out and were dangling behind the dash.
