Cloudy Headlights

Featured Replies

Evening,

Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning cloudy headlights? If so what did you use?  I've read that toothpaste does the job.... anyone used this with success?

Thanks in advance.

1000 grit then 2000 then 3000 wet sand then polish and wax

should come up like new. Toothpaste is ok if its only minor fogging but most noticeable yellowing will require sanding back.

Do you then need to spray them with lacqure to stop it forming?

I use the Mcgiuries polishing kit. It works. But rehazzes every year.

Toothpast does not work. LOL But then I never used Orbit B Professional whitening. But I can confirm Aquafresh and Colgate do not work.

I used the Autoglym kit. Worked really well, but one word of caution;  the headlight plastic is quite soft. I suspect two applications and that'd be it.

I used the Granville kit. It came with various abrasives and polishing solutions.  Finally you give it a wipe with a cloth coated in a UV protective solution but unfortunately it didn't work and they clouded up again. I also read you can spray clear cote paint on them to give a permanent UV protection. Might give that a try in the Sumner!
