Fabia 1.4TSi vRS DSG Battery Lights

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

New to the forum and first time skoda owner :) (although I have owned vw's and audi's in the past)

I have purchased a 2011 Skoda Fabia 1.4TSi vRS DSG

Lovely car, very nippy for a small car and 1.4 engine I must say, well pleased and impressed with it.

Having a small issue with the battery warning light coming up on the dash, doesn't come on all the time but have noticed when it does come on, when driving it will go off, and then come on again when stationary or driving at low revs

The car has had a new battery and alternator not too long ago, multi-meter shows the correct voltage ect, battery doesn't go flat, all electrics work fine, there are no issues other than the warning light coming on occasionally.

Have had VCDS plugged in and there are no faults either :/

Was having a read on the forums and only managed to see a similar issue someone had on a MK1 fabia where people pointed to it possibly being a blue load cable (I think it was the alternator load cable if i recall correctly)

Could this also be an issue on the mk2?

Any help, opinions/advice is greatly appreciated

Thank you!

Have checked battery cables, all secure and correctly connected...very strange

Try the other end - take it off to clean and remake perhaps.

Will be popping over to my local garage the weekend for some new tyres and brake pads hopefully, will get them to give it a look over...previous owner did say car has had 2 new alternators and a new battery so hopefully is just an earth issue...will update the post with results

thanks again

Was diagnosed to be a faulty alternator as it was charging and sometimes not charging causing fluctuations in battery voltage.

Had it booked in to get done following week but after a few days battery light stopped coming on and has been fine for 2 weeks now with no issues...very strange...but happy I've saved not having to have another alternator
