H or V?

90, 91 or more?

205/55 x 16

Look at the ERWIN screen shot. with 205/55-16 either LI 91 or 94 and speed rating H or V.

If you use an H-rated tyre change the max. speed in MFD.

There is another thread with this screen shot.

To be clear, that screenshot applies for vehicles from MY2014 on, and for non-Greenline models. For the Greenline, it's 91H and nothing else.

Interestingly, up to MY 2013 only 94V was approved for use with summer tyres on 205/55/R16 size. All other LIs and speed ratings were winter use only for that size. 91 wasn't even an option for LI.

Speed rating does also define other aspects such as carcass construction. There may be a reason your car is fitted with a higher rated tyre other than just for speed.

Was on 91H from new, Mr Tyre didnt keep 91H only 91V  "no price difference".................your right about the carcass difference, car feels like a Panzer tank on the front now, 91H on the rears, I should have guessed really shouldnt I

Have you set your own tyre pressure or are they at the fitters choice?

My 14 plate 1.4tsi "S" was also on 91H (205/55/16) from new (Conti 2E) and has now been fitted with Crossclimates 94V and feel fine (Infact more than finre - brilliant!)  - Tyre pressures were set way too high after fitting though and have been adjusted

Often the pressures are never checked after popping the tire on the wheel, other times they're set but with the wheel still on the turntable. Too inconvenient to do it right.

Have to do it with the car on a level surface, on its own weight, with cold tires. If nothing is out of the ordinary, I drive to the nearest petrol station alone, park as close as I can to the pump and let the tires cool down for 15 minutes before crawling over to the compressor to set the pressures. Bit OCD but it's not that much of a hassle to do it every once in a while and ensures the car is given a chance to perform at its best. Costs practically nothing, yet you save fuel, get even tire wear, less tire noise, smoother ride and better stopping-cornering.

Instead of parking at the shops, park at a petrol station across the street, do your shopping and set the pressures afterwards.

After switching to summer tires and getting an alignment, the ride is much nicer. On winter tires the ride was much harsher. Haven't checked the speed ratings on my tires, but the difference is definitely noticeable with those particular ones.

My Continental TS850 winter tyres weren't harsh and were as quiet as the original Continenta summer tyres  - The Michelin Crossclimates are quieter though

50p at a garage :crying:

36psi in the fronts so i dropped them to 32psi and they seem better

Buy your own pump and keep in the boot. Much easier as you can then do at home.
