Squealing noise when driving from front O/S wheel

Featured Replies

Over the last few weeks I've noticed that while driving (with the window down) an intermittent 'squealing' noise coming from the front drivers side wheel has got louder etc. Under breaking, the noise disappears and appears to happen at a certain point on the rotation of the wheel.

Not sure if if this is likely to be a bearing or something caught on the brake pads etc?

it had a service 2 months ago and both CV boots are split and are due to be replaced. Garage quoted £60 each, does that seem reasonable? Are the two problems linked in anyway?

FYI: Car has done 104k miles.

could be a build up of brake dust or a pad that's wearing down and becoming loose / touching the disc very lightly.

yeah 120 assume including VAT is not that  bad, although if you're handy with the spanners can be done quite easily...how long have they been split for? as the joints maybe on their way out shortly you could change the entire drive shaft as that's pretty easy swap in swap out job

Is it a trapped stone, the noise seems awful and can last for a week or so depending on mileage/size of stone

Ill take the wheel off and have a look.

Not brilliant when it comes to mechanical things, luckily there's a independent garage nearby who loves Skoda's. not sure how long they've been split for, bought the car in early January this year so I can only assume from then.
