Key Blocking

Featured Replies

I was discussing with one of my colleagues, the phenomenon of windows lowering themselves of their own accord, as he has just taken delivery of an Octavia. I told him that I had disabled the facility of opening all of the windows, following the advice of this forum.

Anyway, we were testing the opening and closing of the Windows by holding the open and close buttons on our keys, when I noticed that if he was holding his lock button to close his windows, I was not able to lock my car and vice versa.

This is potentially a security issue, as someone seeing you get out of your car could prevent you from locking it by holding their lock button. Of course you may notice that your car hadn't locked, but then again, you might not.

Yep, this is how the contents of many cars are taken without the owner even realising, however it's a high powered transmitter (usually a garage door fob) that's used as opposed to a key.

The foreign signal can only block the real one, not manipulate it.

Best to always listen for the beep and watch for the indicator flash.

The keys are all on a common frequency block (along with every other car manufacturer too) so one will jam another if close enough to each other and your car.  I have the confirmation 'beep' turned on now as another way to confirm the car has locked.
