65,000 miles in 4 years

Featured Replies

Having been a Fabia owner and fan, with five Fabias in our family ( see avatar ) taking notice of AutoExpress Driver Power survey's No 1 status, I bought a Yeti as my first new car with my own money. I've had no end of company cars including hire fleets which I could choose anything to take home.

WELL the Yeti has never broken down, during the first couple of years I had minor cosmetics fixed under warranty - see through door "foil" , milky Skoda badges etc.

HOWEVER just before the warranty ran out I noticed gear whine which turned out to be differential bearings, three visits to selling dealer but they fixed under warranty, no problems. At the same time I showed them the MOT with advisory " misting of oil, both front shock absorbers". Much huffing and puffing later, including a letter to dealer's group M.D. they replaced them at no cost to me, whether Skoda paid or the Dealer did, I was not told.

Also, the October after warranty expired, we noticed the driver's heated seat wasn't working BUT no joy from dealer or Skoda paying this time. Better to get the front struts free than the seat repair, cost wise.

Me & Mrs AW still love the Yeti, so comfortable, flexible, roomy for four, around 40 mpg, easy to see out of and park.

As I've said in another post, I'd replace it with a Karoq, petrol hybrid ( when they become available ) but will continue for a couple of year with this one.

Going to Brittany in Northern France, this year,  for its first foreign trip.

Mrs AW was SINGULARLY UNIMPRESSED with the third year repairs required, seeing that I pursueded her to buy such an "ugly car" ( her words ) on the basis of reliability assured by AutoExpress and most other publications - after all, we're paying for repairs from now on!

Are we being unreasonable?

My first very early company yeti did 65k in 4 years. Very early car and it had a knock from new somewhere in the drivetrain or suspesion when accelerating rapidly.in first and second gear.

Never resolved despite several attempts under warranty. New shocks to rear, new dmf and clutch, new driveshafts etc. Never solved, but still 99% liked car and i was never actually broken down anywhere, so had another.

Current company yeti just completing 42k in 3 years, going back at end of month as company scheme now finished. No mechanical faults at all. Slight rust on offside rear door just touched up under warranty.

New Yeti due two weeks and this will be all mine, and finaly the spec i want.

First time i have ever had the same car twice in a row, let alone three times.

Now on second Yeti, first one did 65000 miles in three years. Excellent car but not perfectly without problems. The fuel flap stopped being controlled by the central locking - fixed under warranty at normal service, and rear discs and pads replaced - as a result of an extra service as the car was being moved on to a close family member. ( would have waited for mot failure or notification from mechanic before replacement if I was keeping it). Not bad for 65k miles, otherwise I wouldn't have bought another! 17 k miles in Yeti no 2 in less than a year, no problems ( except 2 replacement windscreens, Yeti no 1 now on screen number 4.) excellent car, fits my requirements to a 'T'.

Did 130k in a Golf Plus with no problem as well, great car!

My 2011 4x4 140TDI was faultless , apart from a brief get you home mode glitch fixed under warranty. Well, it was until the warranty had run out and at 65k miles the sodding DMF expired . Skoda didn't even reply to my appeal for some goodwill and I got the car fixed by an independent for £1100  I think. I bought a Focus  as I was so p***ed off but although the 3 pot Ecoboost is a truly divine engine - and it really is - the Ford wasn't fit for most of my purposes  and  I now have a pre owned 2015 170 Elegance.

Likes-build quality , air of go-anywhere invincibility , comfort , ICE (but no bloody DAB FFS ) and the shove from so much torque

Dislikes- I had forgotten how irritating the diesel soundtrack can be and how binary a diesel's power delivery is .
