Help! Advice needed please....

Featured Replies

Hi - after some advice please if possible.
Just discovered this wonderful site so hoping someone can help!

We have a 61 plate Octavia VRS 2.0 TDI - purchased from main Skoda dealer 2 years ago with 35k on clock. Purchased with full service main dealer history etc.

Last week the coolant light flashed up on dashboard so popped into Skoda to check level and get topped up only for them to discover oil in the coolant tank! Advised not to drive it as could be a serious problem so left it with them. Over a week later we are no closer to finding out what is wrong and still no car back.

Garage is now quoting me in the thousands on the understanding that they think it "might be" the cylinder head gasket, the actual head or the entire engine!! This is despite the fact that they told me it wouldn't be the head gasket when it was originally taken in as there had been no issues with the cars running at all!!

The car has shown zero signs of any problems - it has been running absolutely fine, no fumes, no issues starting etc. There has also been no warning lights to indicate anything is wrong with it what so ever and it had a full service at the main Skoda dealer less than 2 months ago.

Advice............

On these cars oil in the coolant is usually down the the EGR/oil cooler I believe, a few searches for "oil in coolant" should throw something up as I've read of plenty of cases on here.

I'd also consult a couple of dealers and a coupe of indipendents and see what they suggest.
