Near blowout

Featured Replies

Rear offside tyre almost blew out today. I hear a pop as I turned into my road, and when getting out of the car in my drive, heard a mighty hissing. Tyre was flat within 30 seconds.

The good news: I have a spare wheel

The bad news: for some reason the jack failed to raise the car. The manual is awfully confusing and the jack doesn't seem to fit the sill very well.

The good news: Skoda Assist got the AA out in <45 minutes and Paul changed the wheel in a trice using a man size jack!

And the last good news: Asda Tyres have a Pirelli CINTURATO P7 for £136 and can be fitted tomorrow lunchtime. I had assumed the tyre would be scrap and it is; a projectile roughly 8mm square was sticking out of the tread!

Just under 5000 miles on the tyre - looked as new - apart from the damage, that is!

Resolved the jack issue....followina good go at "RTFM". Spare wheel is much smaller than the standard so it was no surprise that the tyre pressure monitoring system within about a mile. Just waiting whilst they fit the tyre nearby.
