As an ex warranty manager i am just trying to help, not start any arguements.  We have a big book of guidlines we have to follow and a system where we inputted claims.. This included chassis no, milage, date etc and the claim is compiled of all codes (numbers) for each item.   As it says at the bottom of the screenshot it states list isnt difinitive and thats their get out of jail card. 

 

I totally get it from where you are coming from as i am also a customer having had vw's, and skoda's myself.   Its not just vw/skoda/audi/seat warranties that are like this as i have worked with other brands too.

This is a radar cover, I removed mine and found it to be a standard piece of trim with 4 clips holding it in place.  I’m not sure how a a few tiny  scratches could throw the radar off which is behind this plastic cover?  
we’re booked into Skoda at the start of May, so will feed back once we have an answer

The cover is made of a specific material with a specific uniform density throughout and the radar is calibrated to pass through the cover and take that into consideration.

 

if the cover is damaged or marked this can cause the radar waves to be deflected at a different angle and cause problems with picking up objects or calibration.

 

all depends on the size of any damage.

 

 

remove the cover and test if it works just fine without it

Happened me this morning 81k on the clock, still have Another 1 year warranty left on her thankfully. Only got the rear sensors replaced recently.

Hope my dealer has the equipment at home to fix it. On holidays in Wales right now when it decides to go wrong 🙈

 

I have adjusted the front radar by myself with VCDS.Is not very easy but was succesful.That was in january....still works fine

Hi, first time here!

"Front Assist Unavailabe" on the dashboard.  Took it to the dealer, they said they would send it to VW for calibration as they did not have the equipment, got a call from the Service manager that they have to order a Control Unit which will take 2 weeks.  Currently Under a used car warranty and no charge.  I have read a few posts on this fault but haven't noticed anything about "Control unit".    Any thoughts/advice will be appreciated.  Thank you.

I have a 2019 Superb Sportline Plus. About 3 months ago the 'Front Assist Unavailable' warning displayed. It was intermittent and usually came on during a typical 10+ mile trip. The local Skoda dealer ran diagnostics but did not find anything! I, typically, only use the car about twice a week for short trips! About 2 weeks ago I found myself making a daily 30+ mile round trip for 6 days. After the first day the 'Front Assist' warning never came on and did not come on anytime during the 6 days. My car was then parked for 5 days and yesterday the warning, briefly, came on. With my, many years background in electronics I have 'guessed' that the issue is dampness/moisture in the radar unit. Modern electronics can react to even the slightest bit of moisture and if the electronics has even a 'pinprick' hole in the seal moisture will get in. Particularly if the electronics are on a vehicle kept outside! My vehicle is regularly covered in condensation in the morning! This might help anyone experiencing this issue and I am fairly certain it is out with the capabilities of the majority,  if not all of Skoda dealers to find such a problem. I am, absolutely, not suggesting Skoda dealers are not competent  but issues like this require 'very specialised' equipment to trace. If I am correct it is not repairable but would require a new unit to be fitted.  I will be visiting my Skoda dealer shortly to discuss!

Just to let you know that the Front Assist unavailable is now sorted.  Skoda changed the control unit and said that now even the cruise control should be OK.

Experienced this on Monday - was heading down the M40 from High Wycombe towards London on my way back from Marlow. Doing 70 with cruise control on and had the Front Assist Unavailable warning pop up. Was in place for a couple of minutes then cleared itself and started working again. There was very light rain at the time. will be keeping an eye on it to see if there's a recurrence, if there is it'll be going in to the dealer.

It’s now a quick simple software fix at the dealer, no more changing out the steering wheel. Took all of 20 minutes start to finish (barely had time to finish the coffee the dealer offered me). 

I get it pop up quite frequently, normally in heavy rain or snow. Usually disappears within a couple of minutes.

That's the thing, had it been heavy rain I wouldn't have given it a second thought, as I would expect something like the front radar to be impacted (exactly the same way a Sky dish drops out in heavy rain), but on this occasion it was quite light rain, not enough I would have thought to disrupt the radar, which is why it stuck in my mind to keep watching it. First time it's happened since I bought the car at the end of May (and not the first time I've been out in rain). Fingers crossed it was just a rain-related one-off. Car has been bulletproof otherwise. Good to know you experience this in adverse weather. Makes it less likely there's an actual issue.

I'm pretty hopeful it's only weather related, it might be my memory playing tricks on me but I think my previous car (a Volvo) had something similar happen occasionally during inclement weather.
