Replacing vacuum lines 1.9tdi

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As part of an ongoing limp-mode and me disagreement, I'm going to try replacing the vacuum hoses as some of them do seem quite tired.

Does anyone have the dimensions handy of the hose I'll need? I can't find anything conclusive for the ATD engine.

Thanks

A sign of a vacuum leak is the engine shuddering when you turn it off as there is no vacuum to operate the anti shudder valve

It's worth following the "vacuum" starting at the brake servo "T" off point. Usually the first thing the pipes do is cross from one side of the bulkhead to the other due to a car being RHD

It's been a while but I think it's a couple meters of 3 & 4mm silicoln pipes (longer lasting than rubber). However check ALL the rigid pipes as these can wear through with vibration /contact - I had this happen on my old Superb pd100.

Do it a bit at a time as you soon get lost with all the pipes
