how many gears fitted to the range DSG

Featured Replies

How many gears does each model have from 1.4 to 20ltr petrol and 1.6 to 2 ltr diesel,

want to find a 6 speed DSG 1.4 petrol or 1.6 diesel from 2013 on

You won't, they are all 7 speed

possible, the 1.6tdi greenline, or that might be the manual that only has 5 speed

On hatch and estate, only 2.0 TDI and VRS models are 6 speed wet-clutch DSG. See:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Škoda_Octavia#Engines_3

1.8 petrol combi seems to be a 6 speed wet clutch DSG.

All other smaller engines are 7 speed dry-clutch DSG. This is the reason I've gone for 2.0 TDI, because I wanted the proven DSG that can absorb more heat if needed.

That 1.8TSI (estate) is just a AWD with DSG.

Do you just mean you did not want a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG that had a World Wide recall (service campaign in Europe '34F7'.)

and now Service Campaign on some 2013-2015 because of more failings?

***'34H5' if anyone wants to check if theirs needs doing.

*** Currently looks like a dont tell everyone type 'Skoda Service Campaign.***

?

What has the ability to absorb heat with a 6 speed wet clutch DSG now being replaced with a possibly superior 7 speed wet clutch DSG to do with it,

or do you just mean possibly more reliable if Serviced with Oil / Filter every 40,000 miles @ around £175.

(still be sure to have a warranty after the manufacturers expires @ 3 years.)

Yes, that service campaign. The honestjohn website questions section has a lot of failed 7-speed dry-clutch DSG gearboxes. He almost always recommends the 6 speed wet clutch.

The way I understand it, the wet clutches are soaked in oil, any heat generated while clutch is slipping is carried away by the transmission oil. So unless you never encounter stop-go traffic, the wet variant of the DSG clutch should always be more reliable and last longer (if serviced correctly).

The price to service the 6 speed wet clutch DSG every 2-3 years is acceptable IMO. Part of running the car, just like engine oil changes. We have to buy EV's to avoid such cost, people gulp at cost of EV, but in reality over normal ownership of 3 years, they are a LOT cheaper to own. I can't wait to get my hands on my Model 3. This Skoda will be my last fossil car.

Which box does the 2017 Petrol VRS (TSI 230) have?

7 Speed DQ200 DSG can work very well, but then you can get all the information, as to Honest John, good as it is, there is some total nonsense published there,

and totally wrong factual information.

Better than Autocar, WhatCar, Pistonheads (Haymarket Media Group) are likely to do, having VW Group as a Major Customer and as VW Group use Haymarket Media Group for Launching new Vehicles.

So just remember because Car Reviewers & Journalists say something, make cars not yet on sale 'What Car Car of The Year',

or even What Car Used Car of the Year, a pinch of salt needs consuming.

Greenline manual is 6 speed rest are 5 for 1.6, 2.0 is 6 speed manual.
