Mk III Greenline - Opinions ?

Featured Replies

I am think of changing my Mk 2 Greenline in the next few months after what has been an excellent and cheap to run ownership experience.  What are current users opinions of the Mk 3 version Please ?

It would be nice to know about the usual stuff;

Reliability?

Economy?

Comfort ? Am worried about the ride, as the Mk 2 is very firm

Tech?

What are the nice to haves ?

As I pay for my own fuel and maintenance and have two other cars, reliability and economy of ownership are what I am most looking for. I only use the Superb for my near 4 hour daily commute, so am looking for an easy life just like I have enjoyed with the Mk 2.

Hi,

My Greenline has hopefully been built this week and I should get it in the next month or so.  It is a company car and, like you, I pay for my own fuel and economy and comfort are my priorities.

I had a 5 day test of the SEL Exec Greenline and I found the ride to be excellent.  The fuel economy on a mix of roads nudged just over an indicated 62mpg and the engine was still new and fairly tight.  I was impressed enough that I placed my order the day I handed back the demo.

The extras I went for included front parking sensors (as it is a bit of a barge to park compared to my current Golf) and also the spare wheel as I don't like the idea of being stranded after a blow-out.

I will post my first impressions once the new car arrives in a few weeks as they don't seem hugely popular on here.  I am happy to come over so you can see what you think as we seem local. :)

I came from a mk2 Leon 1.6 ecomotive and have been amazed at the step up in quality for a small price difference.

i opted for the 2.0 150 tdi and am managing 55-65 with little effort and low 70s if I try which was better than my Leon which I only managed 55mpg average.

i went for se business with a fair few toys and comments as below:

camera - brilliant must have for reversing

park assist - pretty pointless won't bother next time as dead easy with camera

heated windscreen - only one frost since owning car in early march but works as expected.

wireless charging- works fine with my s7 edge

black leather- can get a bit hot will go with Alcantra next time but looks nice

front and rear heated seats- very good

rear sun blinds - kids rate them

18" modus - surprisingly good ride much smoother than Leon which was firm good low cabin noise

standard amudson is great, can't see the point of upgrading to Columbus unless you want to play cds/dvds

M y favorate feature so far is standard and is the ability to connect two phones via Bluetooth at same time and receive calls from either with no need to play with menus to swap. Simple swap feature on man display to switch which phone to call from.

also love acc and wish I went dsg as would make it even better.

hope this helps

Thx Guys, the Heated windscreen and rear wash-wipe are the options I want the most as I had them on two previous Fords and miss them on my Mk2. I am thinking I may go for a used car this time rather than new and there does seem to be quite a bit of choice at dealers at the moment. My mk2 Greenline has averaged 65-66mpg so I am hoping to get similar from a mk3 GL.
