Maxi Dot stopped working

Just wondering if any of you has had an issue with the maxi dot display disappearing completely with just a blank between the speedo and rev counter.  It happened before and didn't really take much notice but again yesterday it just never appeared when I switched on the ignition.  Turned the car off and on a few times and eventually it started working again.  I have the colour version.  The rest of the binnacle is fine and it is still illuminated.  Booking it in with the dealer for next week anyway.
