Superb 190 cut out

Featured Replies

i had a problem yesterday with my 2015 Superb 190 dsg.

pulled out of a roadside parking space - car was reasonably warm.

indicated right, to turn into a junction 90' to the right.

the auto stop kicked in, just as an ongoing car flashed me to turn. i hit the throttle and went to turn - expecting the engine to fire back up - and bugger all happened.

dash came up saying "manual restart required".

i'm stuck in the middle of the road  - queue behind me, and preventing cars turning out the junction for at least 90 seconds.

i put it back to "Park". but the ignition would not fire the engine back up.

i opened/shut door, removed key, kept trying to restart, and only after about 90 seconds (longest 90 seconds of my life), the engine started and car then drove normally.

interestingly, the auto stop/start didn't kick in again after that - i kept it on to try and replicate is more controlled environment, but it fully behaved.

has anyone else had the same issue?

i'll stick VCDS on it later to see if there are any codes.

thanks

Thankfully not - but it sounds like an embarrassing and potentially dangerous situation. Hope you get to the bottom of it!

yep. i really felt like i did when i was 17 and had a 20 year old £500 fiat which used to cut out.

not what you'd expect from a £30k car, and thankfully it was a slow junction otherwise i could have had someone in the back/side/front of me.

i'll run vcds later and check for codes.

Battery problem, possibly?

i did a vcds scan last night. few errors, but none relating to that date. wiped them all. i'll see how it goes over next couple of weeks. i expect its due a service soon, so will mention it when its in with the stealer.
