Noise from timing belt area (2015 1.6 TDi CR)

Featured Replies

My Octavia has developed a noise coming from the timing belt area that can be best described as similar to a bird chirping. Noise is the same at all speeds and idle and I noticed it the other day when I passed a wall with the window down. Perhaps a pulley or bearing or possible ancillary belt issue?

It's still under warranty but earliest dealer can look at it is 25th July. I'm hoping it's okay to drive for now as I do around 750 miles a week.

Thanks.

So what mileage has it covered now?

Maybe a water pump change will be on the cards.   Plenty Skoda Dealerships around, or are you waiting for Henry's?

49k. Booked into Arnold Clark Skoda. Henry's was another 4 weeks away.

Will it be okay to drive, it's too early for a new timing belt surely. I heard these belts are 100k plus.

Ahh might be OK to drive into AC's maybe not afterwards.

I think i would rather wait until Henry's could deal with it.

'What's the worst that could happen'.

Is it one that gets 'The Fix',   best make sure not done if you do not want it doing, tell them in writing...

I think it's coming from the drive belt area so probably a new belt is on the cards. I'll get a mechanic to check later today.
