Quite interesting.

All 4G:

just phone: 150 down, 50 up.

Phone via car`s wifi (SIM installed) 7 down and 15 up.

Wonderful at least good to know that my setup works as the others. Tomorrow I will try to get more data about the skoda wifi module if this is the bottleneck.

4g modems are not all equal. They fall into different categories based on their capabilities. The modem in your phone is likely both more modern and more expensive, so when it has good signal it will manage a higher data rate.

This is very clear to me - according the car seller/distributor/garage you name it - they claimed that the 4G modem & cars wifi solution should be much more reliable and faster - as it is directly connected to the cars antennas - thus better GSM signal and faster speeds.... thats why I wondered what speeds are other users experiencing... still the bottleneck for the connection can be still the Skoda-s WLAN on 2,4 GHz - but I suspect strongly it the 4G modem. Also explains my experience when tried to download a map (selected just one small country) went blazing fast when I had still no data SIM card and car was connecting via Phone and shared AP. Then thought - ok SIM inserted lets do a whole map update and the whole thing went deadslow and failed anyway during the cumbersome download ;-()   This way people will know more about the provided systems by Skoda and make their choices.

Bottleneck is the wifi which is obviosly tuned for multiple devices & signal stability.

On top of that Kodi`s wifi connects so slowly that now I have switched phone`s wifi completly off when driving and using only phone`s data.

Should start using Tasker or similar app to make switches automatically.

Guests and wife can still enjoy car`s hotspot.
