Speaker Buzzing

Featured Replies

Hi There,

I have just installed some lovely Infinity speakers in the front of my 2003 Fabia Comfort TDI. All i seem to get though when any bass kicks in is a buzzing noise from both speakers. I have looked back through forums to 2003 when other skoda enthusiasts thought the speakers had blown, but i have spoken to 3 other fabia drivers including vrs drivers who have the same problem.

Any one found a definate cure for this, any help appreciated.

Padding is definitely the answer. Even with standard speakers, the door panels will vibrate if you crank the stereo up enough. There's a pretty good guide to getting the door panels off somewhere on here, and once they're off, lashings of soundproofing will see you right (I just used screwed-up newspaper to be brutally honest, an that did the trick for me! )

If its not the door cards vibrating then it could be the cone of the woofer touching the rear of the door trim.

And if looking for something to use as sound proofing its a good idea to find something fireproof (unlike newspaper) as in the event of airbag detonation its not a good idea to have combustable material int he vicinity.

I posted a how to with pics ;)

Clicky :D

I also wrote a guide on a false floor in the boot here but the photos are now missing :(

In the end, I relocated my speakers to the floor, which gives a much better soundstage, although I need to port them to get more bass out of them. Thread here complete with photos. Not particularly 56k friendly :)

Hmm, good point!

Actually, just think how many ch@vs you could incinerate by using the airbags to set their shellsuit tops alight. Just slam on the brakes when one's tailgating you on the motorway, and Bob's your uncle: roast ch@v!!! ;):D

*JUST KIDDING!!!*

My standard speakers are driving me crazy with NSF speaker rattling like mad!

Really struggling to cope with it until service time! :thumbdwn:

Hi There,

i am very good friends with a skoda dealership and my mate is a parts manager, under warranty there is nothing they can do. warranty only gives you standard speakers again and the speakers are not the problem.

From what people have told me and goin with majority, best thing is to spend money on some Ivanhoe Sound Dampening mat.

A specialist audio shop said they had used it on Fabia's before and it works. Remember Dynamat is just a universal name, many companies produce a similar item which in most cases works better. I think a role of Ivanhoe mat costs about 20 quid. It says it does one door but easily can do 2 i am informed.
