Diff'rent strokes fer diff'rent folks. I was annoyed by ACC's various foibles at first, but I can anticipate and override them now.

If daveo138 is constantly in sport mode, it may well be that ACC is a bit too leisurely for aggressive driving.

I didn't realise that sport mode equalled aggressive driving.

"The manual does say that ACC will accelerate faster when in 'sport' mode." I think it's supposed to adapt.

Hi dave0138. Each to their own I guess. One point you may have missed - you can change how quickly ACC accelerates back to the set speed. See the settings menu. You can also just prod the accelerator.

I have just learned from reading the manual that when you indicate to overtake and your speed is less than the max set by the ACC, the car will start to accelerate up to the set speed.

Where is the option to change how fast it accelerates?

That's why I find it so annoying to be honest - I find it harder work anticipating and overriding its foibles than simply driving, which is second-nature to us all!

It can only be manually selected in 'Mode' -> 'Individual' -> 'ACC'. Options are Normal, Sport (faster) or Eco (slower).

Choosing the predefined Modes of 'Normal', 'Sport' or 'Eco' adjusts it automatically to the respective setting.

It also appears in Car -> Settings -> Driver Assistance -> ACC.

When I first posted this I thought it could only be selected through the 'Mode' options. Then I checked the manual and it referred to doing it through the Car -> Settings, so I edited my post accordingly. Having now driven my car and checked, the manual is wrong. The Car -> Settings (on my MY16) only allows you to set distance, not acceleration. So the bits in red are my reversion back to my original post! :wall:

Was going to reply to Tigermad, but BillyJim was first, thanks. Just to make it even clearer (if needed :-) ).

Press the Mode button near to the automatic selector lever.

You now have a menu choice on screen.

Check you have Individual Mode selected and press Change on the screen (next to the goback arrow) within a few seconds (otherwise the screen swaps).

Now you have a menu of the various driving characteristics.

Choose ACC and as BillyJim says you can choose between the three options.

It beats me why it is so complex and is not just on the main driver assistance menu as it should be.

I live in fear of someone driving my car (mechanic, offspring) and re-setting something that is not obvious and not telling me.

It's bad enough when I notice it seems stuffy and then I see that some air vents are turned off :-).

Even worse when I finally notice that the automatic headlights are turned off.

There is then the nightmare of finding out how to set it back again once you notice it, especially as you last read the manual a year ago and cannot remember anything.

Yes, I know the keys can be set to an individual, and you could give the other person a different key, but perhaps there could be a password for the individual settings?

Have you discussed this with your psychiatrist?  :)

Then again I always knew if my son had borrowed the car because the radio would be tuned to a heavy metal channel and volume nearly full on.... a bit of a shock to the ticker when you first turned the key to start.

like all built-in Sat Navs relying on radio based traffic reports (all manufacturers?), it consistently gave reports of problems that did not exist or gave no report on problems that did.

forget about them :)

Consumption was around 45 mpg indicated

my 2.0 TSI 220ps isn't about fuel economy, but about power and pleasure of performance
in recent journey from Baltic Sea to Black Sea(Riga<->Burgas) 5853km filled 499.08l (8.53l/100km or 33.13mpg)
most of time kept the speed +~15km/h to signs,

but four times reached also 200km/h (by GPS, car shows +5) for short time periods

Hi MartiniB,

Thanks for the tip. I had heard of WAZE. Will probably try it.
