1.6 cr fabia dpf issues? temp sensor?

Featured Replies

hi

I was wondering if I could have some help:)

I have a 2010 1.6 cr fabia estate, which has done just over 110k.  I have had it a couple of months and when I first got it the glow plug light would come on. I plugged vcds into it and this showed a few errors -

7329 - Mass Air Flow Sensor

7393 - which I think is the EGR system

now the car drove ok and so I didn't really care and the lights would come on and I lost interest in them

Now today the car has gone into limp mode and the dpf light has come on. with the glow plug flashing and the engine management on

I rescanned and the two codes above were on but they were joined by

16848 - which I gather is the dpf but no particular reason - my ash count is 24.6 g.

Now I took the car for a long run but it won't come out of limp, I tried resetting the faults and the other two clear but the dpf fault won't clear.

having done some reading I am under the impression it could be my exhaust temp fault

but I also wonder if the mass air flow meter is out would that stop the car regening? and would that lead to the limp?

I will post the proper fault code in full tomorrow but anyone got any advice?

I have bought a secondhand air flow mass thingy just incase. is there grounds to change the exhaust sensor?

when the car was running with just the lights on it ran perfect, no hunting no limp just lights. until the dpf and limp.

help?

Yeah, they WILL do that. The warning was to STOP you from driving it until sorted. Limp mode its to get you to the workshop... The mass meter will set the lights off, along with other things and are quite cheap on eBay or eurocarparts etc so secondhand is a bit pointless unless you know its condition. At that mileage, the DPF could be in need of replacement but a region might suffice. I found mine coming on quicker and quicker and had to have a few forced regions as I could not clear it in time. Its not an issue now. The egr warning could be due to the valve becoming fouled due to other reasons so be sure prior to replacing. Euro again, sell the same part as Skoda (Carparts4less, too as they have same stock as euro), for less then Skoda, if you can get it fitted. The mass meter is easy but the code will still need resetting.

With vids, I think you can do your own forced regen. Set it up, get on faiths road and set the function. I think dealers sometimes do it on ramps but my local specialist uses the road method, laptop, helping hand to set it at correct time.I cannot give any more info there though, its alchemy to us mere mortals!
