Finding defects on new fl Octavia

Recommended Posts

So cleaning the car other day I noticed this:

Its on the bonnet lip facing driver,it's down to metal in one bit. Been in contact with main dealer who thinks it could be a paint defect. They have sent me to there body shop specialist, who I will visit this afternoon. I think he is going to decide if it my fault or not. Now I can 100% tell you I haven't done it. On the phone he suggested the wipers which I had looked at and didn't line up. But with him saying that I checked a bit deeper by putting wipers in the service mode to get a better view and there is a clear mark on the wiper arm, now for this to have hit the bonnet lip the bonnet must have been up and wiper blades turned/knocked on. My prime suspect would be the car valet who prepared car. I of course can't prove it...

I'm getting the feeling I'm going to get shafted.

On my Yeti, when I wash it, the wipers don't fully extend out to clean underneath and they rub against the bonnet. I am pretty certain that is what has happened to yours (given my experience..)

I washed a VW Passat and the same happened, I could see the rubbing marks where the wiper had taken the paint off completely.

I don't think you can hit a viper with open hood even in the service mode. It is true that we drive on opposite side of the road, maybe it is somehow different on your car then on mine.

Scratch looks serious enough to have mark on the wiper as well.

Anyway doesn't look to serious to me. Guys who unpacked my car, although I insisted that they deliver it to professional detailers I've booked to prepare my new car for me inside out, cut rubber on window at one place and scratched black plastic parts. You simply can't get perfect car as usually morons work on such workplaces.

Easily done, wipers need to be 'parked' on the middle of screen before they can be folded back for cleaning.  If the wipers are then operated / ignition turned on before putting them back on the screen they will scrape the edge of the closed bonnet.

Mine had this damage also, probably happens when its valeted or during the transit process, on the boat at the dock etc.

As its on an edge, I just touched it up carefully.

Hopefully they will admit it, but they wont spray the bonnet, they will do a smart airbrush repair on that edge.

Well been to body shop for em to look at damage he thinks it's been caused by by someone pulling wiper up hard,I don't think so but it's not my opinion that counts so he contacted main dealer to give go head but couldn't get through to him and they were shutting. So I await the outcome but what he is saying is 3rd party damage so they will probs say I have to pay which is very frustrating as I know it's not me. But we shall see...
