DAB Problem

Featured Replies

MY DAB radio is not picking up stations but FM and MW are fine. I had my 2016 Superb Mk 3 in at the body shop last week to get some car park scrapes (not mine) fixed on the front drivers side bumper and wheel arch, plus another at the rear passenger side wheel arch. As I was working away from home I arranged for the car to be dropped off at the house on Friday but haven't been able to get the DAB working since checking on Fri evening.

  • I have tried in different locations but have had little success, whilst on the motorway travelling through the city centre it came to life briefly but failed within a minute or so.
  • I have tried to complete numerous station searches in various locations but with yet again limited success. Sometimes it picks u a partial list but then the reception fails almost instantly.
  • I have compared all my DAB and Audio settings with my brothers Super MK 3 and they are identical, his operates whilst mine is dead.

Is there something that could have been disconnected when the paint repairs were carried out? All the indications  are as though the aerial is disconnected but I believed that the shark fin on the roof was used for both digital and analogue reception, although I'm not sure of the connection set up.

Does anyone know where the DAB aerial and if fitted signal booster are located? I've seen various things stated ranging from

  • It's combined in the Sharks fin aerial on the roof.
  • it's part of the heated rear window matrix.
  • It's housed in the NSR  quarter adjacent to the light cluster.

if anyone knows where any or either of these are please let me know and method of access to all connections please.

I maybe wrong, so anyone please correct me on this...

I believe on the combi/estate the DAB booster/aerial is glass mounted on one of the boot windows.  They definitely were in my Leon estate and are on a friends A6 Avant.

Thanks Penguin17, I contacted the body shop today and to be honest they couldn't be nicer. They are going to take the car back in and as you said investigate the rear quarter window connection as they suspect this is where the antenna is situated. With a bit of luck it will be sorted by the weekend, I'll post any updates.

Hi 2003bhoy

did you get the DAB fixed at the body shop. It seems mine has same symptoms as yours.

Hi RomeoVictor, Yeah it turned out to be the connection to the antenna in the rear quarter window had not been reconnected after the body work repair. I think that it took them less than half an hour to sort it. So easy fix.

Any idea where the connection is? DAB on my 2017 L&K Estate is pretty poor, dealer told my it was part of the shark fin. I do have Canton system & Phonebox so don't know if that makes a difference.

Sorry but I do not know for sure where it is. My problem was solved by unplugging the phone charger from the cigarette lighter socket. Once removed radio was fine. I have now put a different charger in and radio working fine still.

Hiya, do you know if it’s on the driver or passenger side?
