Oil warning light

Featured Replies

This is going to sound like a really silly question - but where is the oil warning light supposed to be on my Rapid 1.6tdi 2014?

It doesn't show up on the dashboard display when I first turn on the ignition i.e. the test phase - whether the bonnet is open or not! Among all the lights there isn't a "dripping oil can" symbol. And my owners manual doesn't say where it is supposed to be - the usual picture with little arrows pointing to the different lapms isn't there.

Didn't realise it was "missing" until I changed the oil earlier today - my usual technique after refilling is to turn on the ignition, stop the engine as soon as it fires, then repeat until the oil light goes out (or the oil pressure gauge kicks in), then start it up and let it idle for a few minutes.

But this morning it was pure guesswork.

There's no flashing warning light to say "I'm not working" either! A picture if you have one would be useful.

In the MFD, and not if the engine is off. So normally you will never see the orange or red oil can symbol.

About as useful as a chocolate fireguard then. MFD doesn't show when the doors are open, and when you are servicing the car you (or at least I), leave the drivers door open. Another "What person thought that one up?" thing

Simply Clever. lol.

Just a thought - an orange or red warning symbol - but the MFD display is monochrome. What am I missing (apart from half a brain at the moment - well, it is late and the beer was nice ...)
