Octavia VRS Standard Fit Alarm Worries

Featured Replies

Just had Motor Check to come to my new (to me) Octavia. Apparently it is a new thing that insurance companies are doing to make sure you are who you are & the car is a car!!!! As part of there inspection they check the alarm. To my dismay and horror we couldn't get the alarm to activate, Doors lock and LED's flash but the car's alarm would not activate. Even left the guy inside while I locked it and wandered about 100 yards down the road.

Has anybody out there had any similar problems and is there (please God) a simple solution or something I have overlooked such as a blown fuse, or am I being completely slack witted.

My dilemma now is, do I take it to Skoda to be looked at or just install a CAT1 alarm for piece of mind. Thinking of the Cobra 7928???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mk1 Octavia vRS did not have an alarm fitted as standard, just an immobiliser.

Thank you.

See there was a simple solution.... I am just simple.

thanks again

Yep i'll second that no alarm on MK I

FOr alarm i'd say clifford G5 (950 intelisense is the top model and about

I have a factory alarm on mine (it was a demo), from memory to test if its working, if you lock the car with the fob and (probably after a few mins) open the door with the key the alarm goes off when you physically open the door. Putting the key in the ignition and turning turns it off.

Alternatively, put drivers window down, lock car with fob, after a few minutes reach in and pop the bonnet, open it up an alarm will go off (I think, its been a while :) ).

For some reason I dunno if mine has internal motion sensors. There doesn't appear to be but if the windows are left down and I stick my hand in I have got it to alarm before.

Hope this helps

I had one fitted to my old octy vRS after I bought it, I went for a Sigma jobbie but I dont know if they still make them. That was 4 years ago, and the alarm still works fine.

if you do go for a clifford make sure you get a decent job done, if they are installed badly can be an absolute nightmare!
