Fiat Multipla

Featured Replies

Has anyone on here got experience of one of these? I'm looking for a replacement for SWMBO's 05 Renault Megane.

The multipla seems perfect for what we need with a 2nd kid on the way and the requirement for bringing a granny along on our travels (don't ask). It's also great value on the 2nd hand market. I could easily pickup a 3 yr old one of these for less than 6 grand. Seems like a bargain. Even Jezza thought they were a better bet than the Zafira and it's apparently the ultimate people carrier.

Comments Please

Incidentally, the unusual looks don't bother us.

Hi

We have a MY05 Multipla JTD Eleganza. It is a fantastic vehicle - the most practical of all the people carriers i think. We have 3 babies, 2 in the back and one in the front. It is very spacious and can genuinly take 6 adults comfortably. As a car it isn't as good as the rivals but as a kiddie carrying tool i laugh in the face of all those who bought for the sake of a badge, or because they felt the bigger they got the better it was.

Length wise it is around the same as a Fabia, and with a fantastic steering lock it is a doddle to park [and standard reverse park sensors help]

So far we have covered 9800 miles from new and [touch wood] it has been more reliable than my fabia ever was, and rattles less.

Does yours have motorised mirrors? I hear some models do for those tight streets

It does have motorised mirrors, although i have never used them on a tight street. It isn't as wide as you think. For example:

Multipla = 1870mm wide

Chrysler Voyager = 1980mm wide

BMW 535d = 1850mm wide

Skoda Superb = 1895mm wide

You should try one for a bit, they cost pennies to own and work really well.......

I drove the old version and it was fantastic. Nippy, great storage and space, really good high driving postion. If I needed one I would buy one. My only concern would be reliability and thats where a Zafira is better value

I've never driven one (or been in one) but all the reports in the press I've read, seem to say they are the best people carrier....

Out of interest, did you drive a petrol or diesel Multipla?

great cars!..used to sell them!;) ....obviously a personal opinion but I actually quite like the looks of both old and new shape!...nice to have something that looks different to the usual box on wheels.

Make sure you get the diesel though!

Petrol

I forgot to mention the handling - it is excellent around the twisties, a really scooby eater [Justy ;)]

Wow, the new version looks a lot better than the old one!!

I don't think I've noticed a new one on the roads, but the old one sticks out like a sore thumb and I have a little chuckle when I see one.

Looks like a nice car mate. If you're a breeder. then it looks perfect for the job.

Couldn't afford a new one what with potentially one income and all. Think i'll go for an old shape diesel as far up the years as i can get for around £6k. Cheers for the advice folks.

The family across the road from me have an old shape Multipla and they love theirs, personally I love the froggy sort of face on it.:) [/font']

Hmmmm - I think the froggy look must be a marmite kind of love it or hate it thing - and I'm afraid I'm in the hate it camp.

Johhny C- When I was wandering round showrooms about a year ago, I noticed Honda do a mini-MPV that uses a 3+3 seating arrangment like the Multipla. Not sure if they have been out long enough for 2nd hand values to be in your price range, but I thought it was much better looking than the Fiat.

Could be called the FRV but not sure - i'm sure you will find it on their web-site.

Clearly a chap with no children. The FRV is over priced and small. The Multipla is ideal from a parent / child perspective. As a car the Multipla is average.

Well i just bought one. late 2001 1.9 JTD SX. Full service history. Drives and looks like new. Dealer was looking £6k so told him to get stuffed. He dropped the price down to £5,600 but wasn't low enough for me so i left it. That was a week ago. He rang me back today so haggled a bit more and got it for £5,200. Happy days. Pick it up on Friday.

Thanks for the advice folks. Pick it up on Friday.
